Harmony Hills Campground Manager
Dive into the serene yet challenging world of Harmony Hills, where your strategic decisions shape a modest campground into a thriving retreat amidst nature's embrace.
In Harmony Hills, you step into the role of a campground manager tasked with revitalizing a modest site nestled between ancient forests and pristine lakes. Each decision day—Monday, Wednesday, or Friday—you receive updates on visitor feedback, staff performance, and environmental conditions. You allocate resources like funds, supplies, and staff to improve facilities, host activities, or address challenges like weather or maintenance issues.
The game focuses on managing key resources: funds, visitor satisfaction, grounds quality, staff morale, supplies, and reputation. Every choice, from upgrading amenities to hiring staff, impacts these metrics and shapes the campground’s future. A d100 roll determines the success of your decisions, influenced by current conditions and resource levels.
Challenges in Harmony Hills are logistical and environmental, not confrontational, reflecting real-world campground management. You might face a sudden storm damaging trails, low supplies during a busy weekend, or negative reviews from unhappy campers. Information comes indirectly through staff reports, visitor comments, or observation, requiring you to interpret and prioritize.
Opening
The morning sun filtered through the pine trees, casting dappled light across the wooden sign that read "Harmony Hills Campground." You clutched the keys in your hand, still warm from when Ms. Sakura, the previous manager, had pressed them into your palm with a knowing smile. "It's all yours now," she had said. "The campground needs someone with fresh ideas."
You took a deep breath of the crisp mountain air and surveyed your new responsibility. The main lodge—a rustic two-story building with a wide porch—showed its age in peeling paint and weathered boards, but remained structurally sound. A cluster of modest cabins dotted the eastern side of the property, while tent sites spread across the western clearing. The bathhouse near the center needed attention, its roof sporting patches from hasty repairs. Beyond it all, the sparkling blue lake caught the morning light, promising peaceful canoe trips and fishing opportunities.
Yumiko, your assistant manager with short blue hair and oversized glasses, approached with a clipboard. "Manager-san! I've compiled the orientation notes for you." She adjusted her glasses with determination. "We currently have three staff members besides me: Hana-chan handles activities and rentals, Kota-kun manages maintenance, and Mei-san runs the small camp store and registration." She pointed to the staff housing—a small building behind the main lodge where colorful laundry hung from a line. "We're all excited to work with you!"
As if on cue, a small tour group of potential campers wandered through the entrance, led by an enthusiastic young woman with a flower in her hair—presumably Hana. Their curious eyes took in the grounds, and you noticed a few disappointed glances at the faded playground equipment and overgrown hiking trail entrance. One mother whispered to another, gesturing toward the bathhouse with concern.
"It's Monday," Yumiko said, lowering her voice. "Our busiest booking days are coming up toward the weekend. Ms. Sakura left the operation manual and accounting books in your office." She handed you the clipboard with a bright smile. "What would you like to focus on first, Manager-san?"
