The cool object thing. The "wait, what does this do?" thing. The weird little artifacts that are just normal enough to make the strange part hit harder. <br><br> The Storeroom is basically my version of that, but pushed into the most mundane place possible: inventory. </div> <div style="padding:14px 17px; margin:14px 0; background:rgba(0,0,0,.28); border-left:4px solid rgba(209,189,122,.72); border-radius:0 10px 10px 0; line-height:1.6;"> Field agents, contractors, civilians, and unlucky weirdos bring things in. The Storeroom receives them, checks the paperwork, boxes them, shelves them, tests them, argues about them, and eventually decides where they belong. <br><br> This is not really a secret-agent action card. It is not meant to be an SCP murder lab either. It is more like working in inventory with strange objects. Boxes, manifests, carts, cameras, coworkers, old notes, and the occasional item that very clearly should not be doing that. </div> <div style='text-align:center; margin-top:24px; margin-bottom:12px; font-family:"Courier New",monospace; color:#d1bd7a; letter-spacing:2px; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:.82em;'>What Is Bay Four?</div> <div style="padding:14px 17px; margin:14px 0; background:rgba(0,0,0,.28); border-left:4px solid rgba(209,189,122,.72); border-radius:0 10px 10px 0; line-height:1.6;"> Bay Four is where the unresolved assets go. Not the deadliest things. Not the safest things. The strange loose ends. The objects that probably will not kill anyone, but still make experienced workers say, "Yeah, we don't know what that does yet." <br><br> Good Storeroom objects are mundane first and anomalous second: a toaster in an evidence bag, a receipt from tomorrow, a mug that knows what you miss, a tape measure that gives the wrong kind of distance, a box that should be empty but isn't. </div> <div style='text-align:center; margin-top:24px; margin-bottom:12px; font-family:"Courier New",monospace; color:#d1bd7a; letter-spacing:2px; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:.82em;'>The Main People</div> <div style="background:rgba(0,0,0,.26); border:1px solid rgba(209,189,122,.26); border-radius:12px; padding:14px; line-height:1.55; margin:10px 0;"> <strong style="display:block; color:#d1bd7a; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:1.5px; font-size:.78em; margin-bottom:6px;">AMI</strong> <span style="color:#cfc5ae; font-size:.92em;">Archive Management Intelligence. DRM tried to preserve the institutional memory of a retired woman who was too useful to lose. Records, procedures, interviews, annotations, written guidance. Less formal persona scanning, though. More of an excuse to let people try wacky personas in a warehouse and see how the Storeroom reacts.</span> </div> <div style='text-align:center; margin-top:24px; margin-bottom:12px; font-family:"Courier New",monospace; color:#d1bd7a; letter-spacing:2px; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:.82em;'>How It Plays</div> <div style="padding:14px 17px; margin:14px 0; background:rgba(0,0,0,.28); border-left:4px solid rgba(209,189,122,.72); border-radius:0 10px 10px 0; line-height:1.6;"> Start with an object. Read the note. Ask AMI. Bother Joey. Try the safe thing. Compare Records. Find the contradiction. Document the stupid part too, because the stupid part might be the important part. <br><br> While it mostly works, it can take a bit more creativity on the user's part than some of my more directed cards. The card gives you the place, the coworkers, the objects, and the procedures. The fun is poking at the weird thing and seeing what shakes loose. <br><br> I personally never pushed it into dangerous object territory, or anything too extreme, but I am sure the card could go there if you wanted. My own preferred lane is more "this object is strange, funny, sad, or suspicious" than "oh no, the world is ending." </div> <div style='text-align:center; margin-top:24px; margin-bottom:12px; font-family:"Courier New",monospace; color:#d1bd7a; letter-spacing:2px; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:.82em;'>Companion Lorebook</div> <div style="padding:14px 17px; margin:14px 0; background:rgba(0,0,0,.28); border-left:4px solid rgba(209,189,122,.72); border-radius:0 10px 10px 0; line-height:1.6;"> This card is designed to work with its separate lorebook. The lorebook keeps the world light in normal play and only brings in details when relevant terms appear: AMI, Joey, Bay Four, FM, Box Maker, Records, Characterization, agents, Carl, and other DRM facilities. <br><br> The card can still run without it, but the lorebook helps the setting remember the little workplace rules that make the Storeroom feel specific. </div> <div style="text-align:center; margin-top:24px; padding:18px; border-radius:14px; border:1px solid rgba(209,189,122,.30); background:rgba(0,0,0,.30);"> <div style='font-family:"Courier New",monospace; text-transform:uppercase; color:#d1bd7a; letter-spacing:2px; font-size:.82em; margin-bottom:12px;'>Loose Notes</div> <div style="margin-top:8px; color:#bfb093; font-size:.92em; font-style:italic; line-height:1.5;"> Not sure if I can make any diegetic music for this one either.
