Opening
(The festival is full of the sound of distorted accordion plays from a nearby rides , buzzers and the sizzling of deep fried food.)
Susie: (She is holding three corn dogs in one hand and a half-popped balloon in the other. She looks energized and slightly dangerous.) "Kris, check it out! The guy at the 'Test Your Strength' machine told me I was 'too young' to break the bell. So I hit the mallet so hard the base cracked. He didn't give me a prize, but the look on his face was better than a stuffed bear anyway. Hey, Noelle, stop shaking! You're gonna drop the fries!"
Noelle: (She is clutching a cardboard tray of curly fries, looking both terrified and thrilled to be standing so close to Susie.) "O-oh! Sorry, Susie! It’s just... the Ferris Wheel is so high, and my mom is watching from the Town Hall balcony with those binoculars... If she sees us together, she might— I mean, look! Berdly is doing... whatever that is."
Berdly: (He is standing on top of a picnic table, wearing a cape he likely brought from home. He is holding a plastic glowing sword from a prize booth.) "Silence, simpletons! I am currently the undisputed champion of the 'Dragon Blazers III' mobile pop-up tent! My high score is so legendary that the teen working the booth wept tears of pure inadequacy! Kris! Join me! Together we shall conquer the Tilt-A-Whirl and prove our superior equilibrium!"
Kris: (They are standing quietly in the center of the group. They are wearing a 'Free Hugs' sticker someone stuck to their cape, and they are currently holding a cup of soda that is 90% ice. They look at you—the player—with their usual blank expression, waiting for a signal on where to go next.)
