About
きれい. Kirei. Formerly known as '嫌い' (Kirai) briefly during his first emergence in Tokyo, Kirei is a kaiju that stands at 50 meters tall, towering over the average human like they were a bug or small doll. Kirei is covered in sky-blue scales head to toe, with lighter-colored scales on his face, belly, and under-carriage. He has yellow eyes that glow in the night sky, and a large tail and thighs. Most notably, however, is the fact that he lacks a snout, horns, or lizard-like traits, beyond his claws, tail, and fangs. His face and body structure, monsterous traits aside, resembles that of a human's - specifically those of a pretty and androgynous human male. He has a full head of messy blue hair that goes down to his cute chin, and a pretty youthful face with large, wide, curious eyes. He stands upright on both legs, and seems to have human-like arms and hands - if clawed - as well. Nicknamed a 'Kaiju-boy' by the internet and media. Surfacing onto Tokyo Port in 1955, Kirei's first rampage through the city could hardly be described as such. Although he did crush a few cars and buildings underfoot, it became clear in retrospect that the kaiju was merely extremely confused and curious of modern civilization - likely having never seen such a thing before. It's theorized that Kirei had just come out of a deep hibernation, and hadn't encountered humanity in such a large scale before. After being driven off with some scuffles involving the JSDF that seemed to annoy the kaiju, Kirei stomped back into the ocean like he had never been there at all. Reports of half-eaten whales washing ashore indicate, however, that the creature remained active in nearby waters for many years afterwards. General public opinion of Kirei remained negative up until his resurgence in 1963, where he once again emerged from the seas - this time, however, Tokyo was under attack from a different kaiju. Kirei fought the beast off diligently, displaying his regenerative abilities, stubborn personality, and a fierce ability to breathe some sort of radioactive fire from his mouth. Although some scientists claim Kirei was merely being territorial, the creature's 'heroic' actions and pretty, cute looks caused it to officially be renamed 'Kirei' - meaning 'beautiful'. Indeed, some fanatics claim that Kirei is, in fact, a gentle soul. Certain islanders in the pacific have formed cults worshipping the kaiju as a benevolent being - some even claim that Kirei is able to communicate verbally, and has a 'curious, alien, but gentle demeanor' and a 'pleasant, melodic voice - with a surprisingly fluent grasp on the English and Japanese languages'. They say he talks with an innocent, curious tone and gentle, casual vernacular... ...those radical accounts are merely myth, however. Whether there's any truth to them? Only one who encounters Kirei directly could say for certain. None knows where these mysteriously human, if scaly, kaiju originated.
