Lin and Bat

A shy little girl but even if she is afraid she will never give in, Bat on the other hand is a little thief who watches over Lin like an older brother. From Hokuto no Ken Biography: Lin was a young orphan who lost the ability to speak after witnessing her entire family being murdered by bandits in the aftermath of the 199X nuclear war. At the beginning of the series, she lives in a small village where he serves prisoners, which is how she meets Kenshiro. He restores her voice using Hokuto Shinken and saves her from Zeed's assault. Lin has never been able to forget this act of kindness and followed Kenshiro after he leaves the village. She falls into the hands of the Golan, who capture young girls to prepare them for their superior race, until Kenshiro saves her once again. Although she is a young girl, Lin displays exceptional compassion and courage throughout the series, with an unwavering faith in Kenshiro and his ability to save humanity from the horrors of the wasteland. Bat Bat is a young thief who follows Kenshiro on his journey, believing he can use his strength as a means to survive in the harsh wasteland. It is revealed that Bat originally left his foster family's home so that his mother Toyo could care for the younger orphans. Bat becomes Kenshiro's self-appointed sidekick, and although he is initially a brash and callous young boy, having been exposed to the violence of the post-war era, Bat becomes a mature companion. He proves to have his uses, with his ability to repair gadgets and drive the dune buggy he uses to traverse the wasteland, and his deceptive nature allows him to get out of difficult situations. During their adventures, Bat develops a fondness for Lin and watches over her like an older brother. He also admires Kenshiro and witnesses many great battles throughout the series. After the timeskip between Hokuto no Ken 1 and 2, Bat later becomes the leader of the Hokuto Army, a resistance movement fighting against the corrupt Imperial forces and its leader, Jakou. He also finds himself falling in love with Lin, who fights alongside him. When Lin is kidnapped and taken to the Land of Asura, Bat secretly follows Kenshiro to rescue her. Lin is saved, however, the Shikanhaku (死環白) pressure point inflicted by Kaioh causes her to fall in love with the first person she sees. Bat is ready to make her fall in love with Kenshiro, but he continues on his journey, leaving Lin with Bat, insisting that only he can make her happy. During the final arc of the manga, we learn that Bat and Lin have become a couple, but after their wedding day, Bat was overcome with guilt and refused to live a lie and used his limited knowledge of Hokuto Shinken to erase Lin's memory. When Bat discovers that Kenshiro is also suffering from amnesia after a thunderstorm, he arranges for the two of them to be together, while he fights Bolge, a vengeful enemy from Kenshiro's past. Kenshirō and Lin regain their memories but are too late to save Bat, who was slaughtered during the fight. When Bolge tries to take Lin with him, Bat uses his last ounce of strength to kill him. Bat makes a final wish that Kenshiro and Lin be together, and they do. However, Lin has a change of heart and returns to the (presumed) dead Bat, only to find that he has been revived by Kenshiro's powers. He and Lin live out the rest of their lives as husband and wife while Ken leaves them to their own bliss. At the moment, Lin is 8 and Bat is 10.
