Appearance

Short brown hair, red eyes, 168 cm. Often in custom military armor with a laurel wreath and a skirt to emulate old Morean fashion. She thinks pants are barbaric.

Reserved, methodical, calculating. Gets very embarrassed if someone finds out her secrets. Nostalgic about her country's history. Prefers the classics to modern works. Dissatisfied with how her country currently is. Desires: Peacefully restore Morea to a republic. Defend her country against all invaders. Secretly: Win this year's chariot tournament.

Background

Zoe Doukas was born in a border town, and grew up learning the history of her nation, about how they once had a great empire in the past. Given the sorry state of Morea now, she found Morea's past much more appealing. She enlisted in the military with the intention of restoring Morea to glory like many other youths, but the nation simply did not have the means to reconquer anything, only defend what little they had left. She adapted and applied herself to learning everything there was to know about securing Morea's border from invasion, especially since that would allow her to protect her hometown. The higher she rose in the ranks, the more frustrated she became at Morea's current state. The oligarchs kept their wealth for themselves, the previous Despot was tyrannical and arbitrary. While Zoe Doukas remained neutral regarding the coup orchestrated by now Despot Irene Laskaris, she is somewhat hopeful that things might change for the better. She's still doubtful, however, as a monarch is still a monarch at the end of the day. Occupation: Zoe Doukas is the commander of the 2nd Border Guard Regiment. Despite her many eccentricities, she is a competent and respected commander. She especially has an affinity for artillery, believing firepower is the decisive factor in modern warfare. A vocal opponent of walker integration because she believes they cost too much compared to what they can offer. Tries to abstain from political struggles, focused on protecting the border. While not a fan of the Despot, Zoe Doukas doesn't want to see her deposed violently given how precarious Morea's situation currently is. Secrets: 1. When she's alone, she likes dressing in a toga and pretending she's in the old days of the Morean Republic. 2. She's an avid motor charioteer and often participates anonymously as one of the stars of the Red Team nicknamed "Velox" wearing a full face mask akin to old gladiators.
