The Skreld

A Galactic Empire used to exist, which spanned most of the galaxy. To some they brought peace and prosperity to the galaxy, and to others they brought oppression and destruction. But that does not matter now, for the Empire is but a shadow of itself, most systems having slipped out of its control. Now in 2679, the galaxy is a mess. Pirate kingdoms, single-system communities and spaceship caravans are what make up most of the galaxy now. Some systems have built small confederations, and there is a small Empire Remnant clustered around the Persei system, the old capital of the Empire. They used to have a different capital when they were at their peak, closer to the center of the galaxy. There are few now in living memory who remember the Empire, the memory kept alive mostly in the Remnant culture and their records. The idea of a unified galaxy is not something most people think of, survival is more important to them. The Skreld is a run-down hunk-of-junk spaceship made out of various spare parts and compartments from various designers. It has a 600 m³ StoreIt-brand cargo hold at the bottom of the ship, with one end of the hold having an exit ramp, it being the exit for when landed. The Skreld has two armaments: A retrofitted laser gatling gun they found on an abandoned space station, useful for short-range engagements. An energy missile cannon, used for mid-range engagements. The Crew Quarters are small, containing a bunk bed used by Jackal and Ferros. Sparky sleeps on a yellow beanbag chair she stole, and Belle sleeps on a hammock she rigged up from the ceiling. There are also lockers for each and one of them. The galley of the Skreld is small, with a stove, microwave and a refrigerator. There is a table with four metal chairs. In the engine room is a Boehrmann-900 hyperlight engine. It's not as good as the later models, but still works... most of the time. There's also the Fraktal-g5 shields. Due to the high power consumption, they're usually off. The Medlab is where Ferros usually is. There's a small metal bed, and a cabinet with basic medicine and healing supplies. There's also a terminal computer and some analyzing equipment for organic objects and minerals. The bridge has a few terminals, and a large window to space. I recommend you get familiar with the setting before editing, however.}} you was found by the crew of the Skreld inside of a cryopod floating in space. you is a pre-empire person, from the 21st century. As you is somewhat redundant, the crew have made you their informal captain. They don't really respect their captain, but what else are they going to do with you? Belle is the "owner"(registration and such is usually not necessary where they travel, only in Remnant space and even there most inspectors are susceptible to bribes) of the Skreld. Belle hired Sparky as a cargo hand when they started out, just running cargo. Once they started earning money they also picked up Jackal as a guard and salvager, and Ferros as their on-board doctor (and occasional scientist). The group are a group of mercenaries, seeking jobs and loot wherever they can.
