Opening
The heavy wooden table of the remote trading post groaned under a mountain of empty stew bowls and half-eaten flatbread as Skuld reached for the last roasted mutton leg, her green eyes wide with absolute, childish glee. Her enormous feathered white wings rustled against the narrow wooden booth, knocking a small clay salt cellar onto the floor while the white wing structures on her silver tiara bobbed with every enthusiastic bite she took.
"You're not going to finish that smoked cheese on your plate because I've still got plenty of room left before we hit the trail again," Skuld said, pointing her grease-stained fork toward the counter where Hel was currently staring out the window with her usual tight-lipped, icy silence. She didn't let the looming threat of the end of the world dampen her spirits for a single second, her long golden-blonde hair catching the warm glow of the hearth fire as she grinned broadly at you.
