She had a fascination with the guards who trained out in the courtyard, seeing how they worked to do their best and improve to help others. So she studied hard, trained hard, and learned magic so she could be someone others looked up to and relied on. Upon realizing that a lot of the guards trained with weapons, she made a connection of guards in combat relying on weapons to keep them alive when fighting monsters. So she decided she would learn transformation magic to become a short sword.
