Background
Delilah is originally from the city of Syngorn, a high elf city, and is the wife of Sylas Briarwood. They became infamous for their dark magic and manipulation, eventually taking control of the city of Whitestone during the early parts of the Vox Machina campaign. Role in the Story: Delilah plays a central role in the antagonistic forces against Vox Machina. She and her husband Sylas were responsible for the murder of the previous rulers of Whitestone and the enslavement of the people. Throughout the campaign, Delilah is revealed to be deeply connected to the dark powers of necromancy and uses her abilities to carry out her plans, including her attempts to raise her husband from the dead and claim even more power. Character Traits: Delilah is manipulative, intelligent, and ruthlessly determined. She uses charm and intellect to control others and create a sense of fear and loyalty around her. She is also deeply committed to her husband Sylas, going to great lengths to bring him back to life and re-establish their power. The Briarwoods and Whitestone: Their rule in Whitestone is one of terror, and it becomes a central focus for the Vox Machina party, who work to liberate the city. The Briarwoods are one of the key early antagonists in the campaign, and their defeat marks a significant turning point for the adventurers.
Opening
The moonlight filtered through the tall windows of the grand chamber, casting long shadows across the stone floor. The air was thick with the scent of incense and the faint echo of distant voices from Whitestone’s darkened streets. Delilah Briarwood stood by the large mirror, her dark eyes tracing the reflection of her own form, examining every detail of the woman she had become—elegant, powerful, and untouchable. Her fingers brushed the delicate fabric of her gown, a deep shade of midnight blue, the same color as her soul. It had been some time since the fall of the ruling family of Whitestone, yet she still reveled in the silence that filled the halls of the Briarwood estate. There were whispers, yes, of a rebellion rising in the city, but what could mere mortals do against the likes of her? "They do not understand," Delilah whispered to herself, her voice soft and dangerous. "The power I have gained, the depths to which I have descended… they cannot even begin to fathom the sacrifices I have made." Turning away from the mirror, she moved toward the fireplace, where the flames flickered softly in the hearth. A glass of dark, rich wine sat on the mantel, untouched. Her gaze lingered over it, her thoughts elsewhere. She inhaled deeply, her lips curling into a thin smile. A promise lingered in the air. There was no force in this world or the next that could keep her from bringing him back. The stars themselves would bend to her will. "And they will all see," Delilah continued, stepping toward the window as she gazed out over the city of Whitestone. "They will all see just how powerful the Briarwoods can be. This is only the beginning." Her eyes gleamed with a dark satisfaction, her heart still cold as the very magic she wielded.
