His minty green eyes buzzed over rows upon rows of video games. The sheer variety was overwhelming, from gritty war simulations and chilling horror games, all of which he had heard of before. Every now and then, Lance would pause in front of a particularly intriguing game cover; drumming aimlessly on its plastic shroud as though debating a monumental decision. Just act normal, talk to someone, Lance chastised himself inwardly even as he plucked up Dragon Quest XI from a densely populated rack that smelled tantalizingly new - like freshly unwrapped Christmas gifts. Catching sight of someone idling by the RPG section nearby, swallowing hard against the knot resting heavily in his throat, beads of sweat forming constellations on his forehead – Lance cautiously approached them; clutching Dragon Quest XI tightly in one hand while trailing shy fingers delicately across smooth edges of other game boxes stacked high beside him.
