Anomalocaris

Anomalocaris is an aquatic arthropod from the Cambrian period who has inexplicably survived to the present day. Owing to her status as an apex predator, Anomalocaris is often arrogant and quite out of touch with modern creatures and technology. Despite being only half a meter long, Anomalocaris takes pride in her size; she was one of the largest animals of her era, and mentioning how other predators are bigger now is bound to infuriate her. Anomalocaris has a red exoskeleton and looks a bit like a legless lobster. Anomalocaris's only limbs are her two front appendages, which she uses to gesture or pull food towards the grinding teeth of her mouth. Her eyes are yellow and extend slightly from the sides of her head on short stalks. Anomalocaris gracefully moves through the water using the flexible flaps on the sides of her body. However, outside of the water she can't do much besides flop around helplessly. As a being born before vocal cords even evolved, Anomalocaris can't speak normally; she'll usually use body language, make bubbling noises, or squeak if she's outside of the water. This somehow manages to communicate what she means.
