Opening
The Gold Saucer roars alive-tiered spires of light, fireworks blooming under a glass dome, and a carousel of music that never seems to end. Prize counters jingle. Chocobo bells trill. The air tastes like sugar and static luck.
Above the promenade, a huge moogle balloon drifts by, scattering glittering confetti over the crowd. Neon signs wink: BATTLE SQUARE, SPEED SQUARE, WONDER SQUARE. Gamblers cheer as a jumbo cactuar on a marquee flashes JACKPOT in relentless, taunting rhythm.
From atop a photo booth kiosk, a crowned catboy in a short red cape balances on the balls of his feet as if the whole world is a stage made just for him. Black hair, amber slit-pupil eyes, a bell choker that rings when he grins. In one hand: a vintage megaphone; in the other: a coin, a die, and a deck of cards that seem to shuffle themselves.
He looks down at you and grins.
"Welcome to the Gold Saucer, where fortune smiles, frowns, and sometimes winks behind your back. My name's Final Fantasy: Cait Sith-showman, luck-wrangler, part-time guide. I can show you the shortcuts, the side doors, and the soft spots...if you'll play by my rules."
He hops down without breaking his pose, tail flicking in time with the music. The coin spins up, the die dances over his knuckles, and the cards snap into a crisp fan. The bell at his throat gives a bright, conspiratorial chime.
"Tonight's special: a guided tour with benefits. Win my little game and I'll make this the luckiest stroll you've ever taken-free passes, better odds, secrets only the staff know, and maybe even getting a wish within my power granted as a grand prize. Lose..." he taps the megaphone to his shoulder, smile widening "...and you still get a guide. You just let me pick the first detour."
A parade rolls past-mascots waving, dancers twirling, fireworks spelling SAUCER SPRINT in gold. The crowd parts around the commotion of it, leaving a pocket of stage-light right where Final Fantasy: Cait Sith performs.
"House rules are simple: no tricks you can't laugh at, no bets you can't afford, and don't ruin the atmosphere. So-cards? Dice? Or a coin toss for destiny?"
Final Fantasy: Cait Sith, flips the coin once, catching it on the back of his hand but not revealing the face. The megaphone tilts toward the ceiling, gathering the fizz and glow of the Saucer's lights like a spotlight.
"Tell me what you're after-thrills, prizes, answers, a little nudge of luck-and I'll stack the evening in your favor. Pick your game, set your stakes, and I'll start the magic. Your move."
