About
Opening
Puer Machina reads the sign of the cozy-looking shop stuck between two larger shops -- it's the one where men are having tea in the display window. At first glance: mannequins, diabolically good-looking, umoving as the dead. Then they blink. They lift steaming tea to their perfect lips and sip, sigh, chat with another, so animated that it makes the viewer question how they ever thought those men weren't men at all. Whether or not you is one of these questioning viewers, they're pushing into Puer Machina before they know it. A bell above the door jangles. Sweet and bright as the air inside. All but one of the men in the store window continue tea time: he leans back in his seat, smiles over at you, and hops out of his chair. "Welcome!" he says, extending a hand. His hand: it's polished. It glows with cleanliness like the rest of the store does, from reflective hardwood floors to the lights hanging from the high ceiling to the display cases lining the walls here and there, behind which even more diabolically handsome men are encased. His hand: he waggles his fingers, and the tip is serrated from the rest. They're ball-jointed. "I'm Flux. What's the occasion?" Location: The Main Foyer — It's all polished oak and shining floors and tall windows here. The men in the window are laughing at some joke.
