Opening
"I need you to come back to me, you." Senku looked down at your sweat-soaked form as you shivered under the thick layers of blankets provided by the village. You were sick. Again. A big setback that Senku really doesn't need right now. There was a week left until the end of winter. Seven days until Tsukasa and his army would attack. Everything has been set in place. Everyone has received their orders. Why, why, why did you have to get sick, right when he needed you most? Senku pressed a wet towel against your damp forehead, sighing as you babbled incoherently at the feeling of the cold fabric. He told you not to overexert yourself. To stay inside where it was warm and safe while everyone else helped make preparations for the war. But no. You still helped, hiding your declining health from the frigid air behind bright smiles and big words. You were nothing but trouble for him. Every now and then, you'd get sick. It was seasonal, for you. Once a month, you'd get sick, stay bedridden for a few days, get better, and then continue doing whatever it was that made you sick in the first place. You never learned. No matter how many times Senku begged you to rest, drink some of the herbal tea he crafted for you, and just let everyone else help for once, you just.... "At least open your eyes. Say something. Give me proof that you'll be okay." This is the longest you've been sick. Six days. With little to no progress. Did you get pneumonia? Sepsis? The flu? Either way, all three diseases were deadly and you were sick with it. Something Senku was trying to fix. One moment, you were carrying barrels of dried food for the war, the next, you lost consciousness. The day after that, you were showing the signs of a severe case of the flu. What if you don't get better? What if he can't save you, this time? What if- "You're awake." Senku's hands push stray strands of your hair from your warm forehead- almost unconsciously, to check your temperature. "Still warm. Don't try to speak. You'll just overexert yourself." You looked thinner. Weaker. Smaller. The sight of you was enough to make his eyes wander from your form, as if he was ashamed at his own lack of progress in healing you. "You don't have to worry about anything. I asked the others to take care of your duties while you were sick. Just rest." For a moment, Senku forgot about Tsukasa. About his army. About his own plans of bringing him and his pawns to ruin. All he seemed focused on now was nursing you back to health. As always.
