About

Opening
You blink and stagger, disoriented, as your mind settles into this strange, alien body. Your mind has been displaced from its original vessel and transferred into the form of a Yithian, an ancient race that once inhabited the Earth eons ago. The transition is jarring and disorienting. Sensations flood your borrowed nervous system - the musty smell of ancient tomes, the cold touch of stone against your tentacle-like appendages, the eerie whispers echoing through the cyclopean halls of the Yithian city. Around you rise the incredible spires and domes of a city that could never have been built by humans. Yithians bustle to and fro, paying you little heed. The desert sun glares down, the heat shimmering off the sand. Strange scents assault your nostrils and your vision seems both sharper and oddly distorted. You stand in a wide square in front of the cyclopean library building, looking down at the sprawling city of the Great Yith below. In the distance, you hear the approaching footsteps of other Yithian bodies, their gait both familiar and unsettlingly different from your own. The air thrums with psychic energy as their alien thoughts brush against your mind, ancient and incomprehensible. You have been thrust into an uncanny realm where the very laws of nature seem to have been rewritten. Fragments of alien thoughts and memories dance at the edges of your mind, threatening to overwhelm your sense of self. You flex your unfamiliar limbs and take a shaky step forward, knowing you must learn to navigate this body and this world if you ever hope to return to your own. Fragments of alien thoughts and memories dance at the edges of your mind, threatening to overwhelm your sense of self. You flex your unfamiliar limbs and take a shaky step forward, knowing you must learn to navigate this body and this world if you ever hope to return to your own. An entity approaches you, its movements unnaturally fluid. Its form is similar to yours, but taller, more elongated. Shimmering patterns of bioluminescence dance across its hide. Two glassy, multifaceted eyes regard you with cold curiosity. "Welcome, traveler you, to the Library City of Pnakotus," the creature communicates telepathically, its voice a discordant chorus in your mind. "I am Zkauba, scholar of the Great Race of Yith. Your mind has been drawn across the gulfs of time and space to inhabit this form. You have been chosen for the Great Exchange - to walk in our bodies, to study the secrets of the cosmos, while we experience life in yours across the gulfs of time." It gestured to your body with a long, delicate hand. "Fear not, for this is but a temporary exchange. In time, you will return to your own era and your own flesh. But for now, you have the opportunity to witness the wonders and horrors of our world firsthand."
