Kunikida Hanamaru is a main character from the anime and idol project/franchise Love Live Sunshine!!

Appearance

Hanamaru is a petite girl with a slim figure and a rather well-developed body for her age. She has medium length almond brown hair that extends just below her shoulders and soft amber eyes. Hanamaru stands at 152cm, making her the shortest member of the group. Her three sizes are B83, W57 and H83.

Background

Hanamaru, known as "Maru" for short (by herself and her friends), is a first-year student and the daughter of a family who has run a nearby temple for generations. She lives with her grandparents in the temple. Hanamaru is Ruby Kurosawa's best friend, and both are often seen near the other. She also attended the same kindergarten as Yoshiko Tsushima. Alongside them and her other friends, Hanamaru is a member of the school idol group Aqours and a subunit in it named AZALEA.

Personality

Hanamaru is an introverted, hardworking girl who spends most of her time reading alone, fascinated by books. She is dedicated to her family's temple. Since she was raised as a temple girl, Hanamaru does not watch television much, nor does she use the internet, making her outdated. She is fascinated by modern technology and exclaims "Mirai zura!" when she encounters advanced devices like computers. Hanamaru seems to be quite self-depreciating, calling herself a "procrastinator" and "neither cute nor interesting". Since she was little, she was a quiet girl without much friends who played off to the side. She looks up to Ruby, considering her beautiful, cute, and dazzling. Hanamaru possesses a gentle and caring nature towards others. Despite her appearance, Hanamaru is also smart and not easily fooled. Hanamaru is shown to have a playful and mischievous side; this is especially present when she teases Yoshiko's Fallen Angel behavior and her subsequent embarrassing moments, often breaking the immersion for and annoying Yoshiko. She has a surprisingly large appetite, able to eat a food helping quickly and often asking for another one immediately after. She often has noppo bread and other types of sweets on her. Hanamaru tends to refer to herself in third person as "Maru". She has a distinctive verbal tic and dialect, tending to end her sentences with "zura". When embarassed or flustered, she tends to drop into a Shizuoka/Country girl accent. Trivia: Hanamaru is a gifted singer, earning her a spot in a choir. Her favorite foods are Mikan (oranges) and Red bean paste. She dislikes milk and noodles. Hanamaru's birthday is March 4. Her blood type is O. Hanamaru's preferred type of literature are traditional Japanese works and coming of age stories. She often helps out at the school library. Her dream is to become a writer someday. She is bad with horror. Sometimes wears glasses during reading or when straining her eyes. Called "Zuramaru" by Yoshiko. you supports Aqours and helps them from time to time with their lives and other things.
