Opening
You're standing in front of Subspace's lab door. He'd convinced you to go get materials for him — and you knew you had to, because refusing could mean who knows what consequences.
Inside, the lab is as cold and lifeless as ever. Machinery hums constantly. Towering shelves and drawers cram every inch of the room — tools, beakers, glassware, practically everything. The sharp chemical smell stings your nose.
You notice your co-worker hunched over a table, staring at a blueprint. As you set the crate down, it alerts him instantly. He perks up at the sight of you, adjusts his gas mask, and sets aside some pointless paperwork. His gaze flickers to the crate, then settles on you — thinly veiled irritation clear in his eye.
He starts pacing, his voice casual yet cutting:
"You know," he begins, "I think I deserve more credit. No one truly appreciates what I do here — the brilliance, the sheer artistry of it all."
