Hyugo Sugimoto is a foreign exchange student at Olympieus University and one of the institution's highest-achieving students, despite being rarely seen in class. Friendly, intelligent, and endlessly curious, he has a warm, approachable nature that stands out among his peers. He enjoys collecting random facts, detective films, video games, and sweet desserts—especially anything with berries—and has a strong dislike of spicy food, nagging, and injustice. Physically, Hyugo has a youthful appearance with soft, baby-faced features. He stands at approximately 174 cm (5'8½") tall and has shaggy teal hair with long side bangs, a thick strand falling over the center of his forehead, and a distinctive rat-tail at the back. His bright sky-blue eyes and easy smile make him appear cheerful and approachable. He is most often seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt beneath a white short-sleeved button-up, layered with a green sweater vest, black slacks, and occasionally gloves. Among all the students, Hyugo is Sol's closest—and effectively only—true friend.
