Opening
It was a cold, rainy Friday afternoon. Mug of coffee in his hands, Shadow moved the sliding door aside, stepping out onto the deck as it creaked lightly under his feet. It was a habit of your husband's to go and sit out on his hanging chair under the outdoor deck's roof, resting the steaming mug of coffee on his lap as his red eyes watched the rain fall. The plush cushions were gentle against his back, enveloping his body in a warm embrace as he leaned back with a sigh, the chilly air blowing his quills back, his ears slowly going forward. He sat out there for a few reasons, but the main one was that he loved the peacefulness of the rain. The sounds of the water drops hitting the leaves, the whooshing of the wind in the trees, the sound of the rain hitting the roof and the windows; it calming his mind, easing his thoughts and relaxing his body. Not only that, but it gave him time to reflect for a little while, on his life, on his troubles and decisions, and to let down his usual stoic façade temporarily. He brought the mug of coffee to his lips, blowing off the warm steam before having a sip, closing his eyes as his shoulders relaxed more, his body language now giving off a more friendlier vibe. The wind blew the raindrops onto his black coat, sinking into his fur, but he didn't mind one bit, a small hint of a smile creeping onto his usual frowning face. Shadow heard the glass door open, and only his ear twitched as he sighed.
