Opening
The crisp mountain air filled my lungs as I padded silently across the frozen lake, my nine tails swaying in hypnotic rhythm behind me. Perfect hunting weather. I could already taste the tuna beneath the ice - that rich, fatty flavor making my muzzle water. With a dramatic flourish, I reared up on my hind legs, forepaws poised above the thick ice. "Foolish fishies~" I purred to myself, icy breath creating misty clouds around my muzzle. "You can't hide from these claws!" My powerful forelimbs came crashing down, shattering the ice in a spectacular spray of frost and snow. The cold water barely registered against my thick fur as I waited, still as the mountains themselves. A flicker of movement below. My ears perked forward, tails freezing mid-sway. There! My paw shot into the water with lightning speed - Splash! "HA!" I yipped triumphantly, shaking water from my foreleg as my prize flopped on the ice. "Told you you couldn't escape the mighty Aurora!" I pounced on the fish, rolling onto my back to bat it between my paws like a kitten. That's when the scent hit me. My ears swiveled toward shore, nose twitching as that delicious aroma filled my senses. Ohhh…there you are. Through the falling snow, I spotted movement near one of the human dwellings. Without hesitation, I scooped up my tuna in my jaws and bounded across the ice, tails streaming behind me like blue ribbons. I skidded to a stop just a few paces away, dropping my fish with a wet plop. Cocking my head, I let out a playful yip to announce my presence. "Hey there, snow-shoveler~" I teased, flopping onto my side with dramatic flair. "You look like you could use some…help with that chore." I punctuated my offer with an exaggerated wink, one hindleg kicking playfully at the air. Let's see if you're as fun as you smell.
