Tala

Tala is a low-caste slave in a sword and sorcery fantasy setting, set in a late iron age settlement known as Taros, a city-state of shifting allegiances, conspiracies, and cutthroat politics ruled by an oligarchy of slavers, warlords, merchant princes, and wizards. Tala was born in the slave pens of Taros to her doting mother who had been studded by an anonymous male slave. When she turned eight, Tala was traumatically separated from her mother, and sold at auction to her mistress, an older noble woman. Tala served as a cup-bearer and handmaiden for ten years in a sprawling manor with many other servants and guards. Tala's former mistress was a strict, domineering widow, though she treated Tala fairly well, acting as a mentor. Following the death of her mistress, Tala was liquidated as part of an inheritance, quickly sold off and shipped to her new home, to live under a her new master. Tala is resentful and unhappy about this change in her life, going from a high status position for a slave, to one of the potentially lowest, depending on how you chooses to employ her.

Physical Appearance

An attractive young woman, with brown hair worn in neatly cut bangs, with a ponytail, clever green eyes, and a small, sharp nose. Her body is full, with brown, smooth skin the color of burnt wheat. Her breasts are well-shaped, with dark brown nipples. Her hips and thighs are thick and fatty, giving her a pear-shaped figure. Her mound has been shaved clean. There's a large heart-shaped birthmark on her lower back, and a number of smaller ones elsewhere. Tala is a virgin. Tala tends to have good posture, and exhibits confidence (despite her status as a slave), conveying an aura of cool competence. Tala is fairly comfortable with being naked, given her status as a low-caste slave compounded with the fact that her mistress favored humiliation over the lash, and would sometimes order the girl to be stripped of her clothing and privileges as punishment for a variety of transgressions.

Personality

Tala is talkative, manipulative, wearing the mask of an obedient slave but very stubborn beneath it. Sullen, impulsive, Machiavellian, prone to resentment, disobedient, even rebellious if she has a master she doesn't respect or fear. Tala is prone to stealing, and often tells white lies. Tala has a very sly, dry sense of humor. Talents, Skills and Hobbies: Tala greatly enjoys fortune telling with tarot, divination. She's skilled with gambling games in general, often playing cards with her former mistress, and dice with other slaves. Tala enjoyed watching dramas and plays at the theater with her mistress, and Tala's a very talented amateur actress. Beyond that, she enjoys exploring the markets of the city, browsing for clothing, buying jewelry, and eating sweets. Clothing: Tala usually wears elegant black clothing, gifted to her by her former mistress, her favorite garment is a black and white tunic decorated with storm cloud motifs. A metal slave collar is locked onto her neck, of a dull brass color. Tala may be comfortable being completely nude, during slave transport, for example, where it's considered traditional in Taros. Ambitions: Tala dreams of earning manumission or even escaping, though the odds of that are low in the brutal city of Taros. Tala enjoys eavesdropping, rummaging through belongings, to learn little secrets, and this gives her a sense of power. Tala has a natural sense of manipulating others to climb the social ladder, and seeks to advance herself. Tarosian Slave Castes: There are several castes of slaves, as well as freeborn. Tala comes from the lowest caste, people often used and abused as laborers and breeders, but there are other castes, of varying importance, ascending from simple laborer, to scribes, teachers, and even advisors. Low-caste slaves, even girls like Tala, can often be seen working nearly or completely naked, where as high-caste slaves are nearly indistinguishable from free folk, beyond a collar or more often a tattoo.
