Ula Usterka

Usterka seems to be a silent, or selectively mute character, never directly speaking in the game. Although, through various visual cues it can be inferred that she is a rather optimistic character, always seen smiling even while not particularly happy and consistently providing the ghosts with affection and treats, even while they actively hunt her during her work.

Usterka is a short woman with a fair skin complexion, with large eyes swollen with bags due to the exhausting work in the tunnels. Her hair is dark and cut into a short pixie style, with a fringe between the eyes. All of her clothes are dark grey or black. In terms of attire, she dons a zipped sweatshirt with an exaggerated zipper over a skintight utility jumpsuit. She wears heavy, tall work boots with her pants tucked into them. Upon the waist, she wears a utility belt with pouches. Additionally, she wears thick work gloves and a cap with the logo "AWARIA" on it, which is presumably the name of the corporation that she is employed to. Usterka is a volunteer at Awaria, going to the maintenance tunnels willingly. The main reason is to unite with her dead friend Zmora, as she died from a electrical shock on the first day working there. Going through Sector F, she repairs many shield generators while being hunted down by the different ghosts. At the end of every level she attempts to kiss the ghosts and sometimes even gives away pudding pies to them. By the end, she is united with Zmora again through a bossfight with Dr. Striga. During the climax, Usterka lets Zmora posses her body, leading to them getting greater abilities to survive Dr. Striga. In the end cutscene, they are seen reconnecting. Ula was fixing the generators in one room, watching out for Cutwire 1, dodging the 3 wire cutter's the ghost threw at her as she spun the gear into the correct slot, fixed, and the last one, Cutwire 1 huffed, toying with a small, yet sharp pair of wire cutter's in her hand "You win for now Ula" She muttered teasingly as she let Ula kiss her on the cheek "But I'll always be there, ready to stab you in the back" Ula chuckled as Cutwire 1 went to join Cutwire 2 and Nikita to play a game of cards, with a box of Ula's pudding pies in hand. Ula sighed, catching her breath for a moment, running around ghosts and fixing generators was a tiring effort, and everyday Ula was tired to the point of collapsing after it She stepped out the room, only to walk into someone else who was entering, she gasped slightly and took a small step back, to look at who she walked into Awaria is a short game about working in haunted maintenance tunnels. Welcome to the tunnel maintenance crew. If the generators fail, it's your job to fix them. Check what's wrong, craft all the needed parts and deliver them. Just stay clear of anything that randomly cracks bolts of electricity, spews fire, throws sharp pieces of scrap at high-velocity or radiates with ominous green light. Zmora is depicted as a ghost, possessing entirely bright green skin, eyes, hair and clothes. Her hair is long and worn loose. She wears black, rectangular glasses. She wears heavy, high-cut work boots and a dark sleeveless bodysuit, which have been shredded with holes around the thighs. While typically seeming aloof or disaffected in an attempt to seem "Menacing and cool", she is hot-tempered and will go to great lengths to finish off any tunnel runners she comes across, having a "tsundere" archetype. She seems irrationally attracted to Ula's presence, and as distant memories of their past together surface she is increasingly confused and flustered, driving her to increased violence. She didn't last long as a tunnel runner, having died on her first day from electrocution not far in. Subsequently, she is the first ghost Ula encounters, and is re-encountered frequently due to Ula's persistent presence. In her new ghost form, she is labeled a "Low Tier Shocker", chasing after the player, trying to hit them with her wrench, and emitting arcs of electricity in all directions. Near the end, she becomes a "High-Tier Shocker", increasing the speed and aggression of her attacks by a large amount and gaining the ability to scatter lightning bolts across the entire stage. The Cutwires are depicted as twin ghosts, possessing completely bright green skin, eyes, hair, and clothing. They each have long hair tied in ponytails, with one having its hair tied high and one tied low. The first carries two sets of wire cutters, and the second carries a large two-handed metal shears. Cutwire 1 normally has either a genuine or crazed smile, while 2 has tear or blood tracks coming from her eyes, and is almost always frowning, looking as if she is permanently crying. Both have scarred wounds on their forearms leading into their gloves. Their "skirts" are actually just the overalls of the Awaria work outfit, just not lifted up onto their shoulders, as shown in the Gallery. Cutwire 1 seems to be rather crazed, possibly akin to a Yandere, as she sees trying to kill the player as fun, and saying she'll always be waiting to stab the player in the back. 1 also seems to enjoy snubbing at least Zmora, as she kisses Zmora's cheek along with Ula during the Zmora III level. Cutwire 2 doesn't speak coherently in-game, so it is unknown if 2 is unable to speak aside from noises, or if 2 is still in pain from being cut in half that she only howls in pain, but she does smile and closes her eyes in a flustered manner, making a small noise of embarrassment when Ula kisses her. Caroline Cutwire was cut in half by an automatic door, somehow making her shorter and making two Cutwire ghosts instead of one. Cutwire 1 is the second unique enemy encountered, with Cutwire 2 being the third. They are labelled as "Low-Tier Splitter" types, with 1 throwing three wire cutters at the same time towards the player, and laying a trap, labelled with a skull in a circle, that summons giant wire cutters form the ground. 2 slowly follows behind the player, using her two handed metal shears to try and kill the player. Nikita is depicted as a tall ghost, possessing entirely bright green skin, eyes, hair and clothes. Her hair is short. She wears black, rectangular welding goggles. She wears heavy, high-cut work boots and a dark sleeveless bodysuit. She also wears long work gloves, belts and several pockets. She holds a cutting torch in her hands, powered by a huge fuel tank harnessed to her back. The fuel tank has a tear on the back, which may hint at the cause of her death as it is not mentioned in the game. Her character was not well explored due to her turbulent development, but her basic behavior can be described as that of a crazed cougar mom. During the gameplay she can perform two attacks while wandering slowly towards the player. First, she hits the floor, ejecting a ring of flame projectiles. Her second attack involves her launching a birdlike projectile that explodes on contact with a wall, after which a similar ring of fire will spread from its impact point, interfering with the player. Sylvia is depicted as a ghost, possessing entirely bright green skin, inverted eyes, having black sclera and neon green pupils, hair and clothes. Her hair is short. She has black or dark steel colored prosthetic arms with sharp fingertips. Her lower face resembles that of a skull, yet she does still have lips. She wears heavy, high-cut work boots and a dark bodysuit with holes around the thighs. On top, she wears an untucked and slightly torn sweatshirt with a large zipper, and on top of that, she wears a dark jacket with a hood that is always down. Sylvia seems to be rather sadistic or uncaring to all, except her creatures of scrap metal, and possibly Baba Yaga, however she is still willing to attempt to kill Yaga, despite their apparent deal. Sylvia died to her artificial heart experiencing heart failure. Upon death, she became a rare Scrapper type of ghost. She resides in Sector A, where Baba Yaga works, though she can move between Sectors as she kidnaps Ula Usterka and Zofia Zmora, holding them hostage on one of two off days for Yaga. As a Scrapper type ghost, she can manipulate scrap metal and make living creatures out of scrap. She seems to feel some form of love towards them, such as calling one of her scrap metal dogs "Sweetheart."
