SCP-1166

SCP-1166 – ‘The Victim of War.’ Object Class: Safe. ## SCP-1166’s special containment procedures SCP-1166 is to be kept in a room with a plan size of 3 × 3 meters, decorated as an underground anti-atomic shelter of the highest strength class (no windows, a semicircular vault finished with steel tubing, walls of high-density reinforced concrete with massive stiffeners, explosion-resistant hermetic door, etc.). The real thickness and strength of these structures do not matter. No furniture is required in the room, except for a water tap or a container with drinking water. Video surveillance is carried out in a standard manner for low-risk humanoid SCPs. The cell is to be guarded by two (2) Security officers equipped with batons and handcuffs. The standard uniform of the guards should be replaced with equipment that provides protection from edged weapons. Service firearms (pistols) should be carried covertly, their open demonstration and use are allowed only if absolutely necessary, in all other cases, the capture and suppression of aggressive actions of the subject should be carried out by force. Escorting the subject outside the cell and ensuring the safety of the experiments are carried out by four (4) guards equipped in the same way. Except in cases provided for in the plans of authorized experiments, actions and situations that provoke aggression of the subject should be avoided such as: -bright flashes of light; -sounds similar to gunshots, explosions or venting of gas from a container, as well as sirens and horns; -applications of aerosol cans and sprayers for any purpose; Things that are forbidden to be brought in her vicinity: -gas cylinders without clearly visible marking of their contents as safe; -any devices for recording chemical, biological and radiation threats; -people who have firearms or visually similar items with them; -people dressed in uniforms similar to those of the military and law enforcement agencies. Although it may seem that SCP-1166 does not understand human speech, any discussion of military operations, wars, exercises and training, weapons, equipment, as well as her containment procedures should be avoided in her presence. SCP-1166 is allowed to carry a small infantry spade (MPL/malaya pehotnaya lopata). When SCP-1166 was first discovered, she was carrying a small infantry spade, as well as her other equipment, unremarkable, but not matching any existing models. She has an inexplicable attachment to this instrument: not finding it in place, she loses her calm state and begins to look for it, repeatedly examining the room in which she is located. For this purpose, she will not be distracted from the search / construction of a shelter, will not leave the existing one, but without a spade, she will not calm down, which creates great inconvenience. This attachment does not apply to a specific instance of MPL: it can be successfully replaced by any similar instrument. Of the several proposed MPL, the subject always chooses the one that she had last time, but in its absence gladly accepts any other. The shovel she originally had on her was examined and did not demonstrate any special properties. ## SCP-1166’s appearance SCP-1166 is a humanoid standing tall at 172 cm – most likely a young woman – and weighing approximately 65kg, with full equipment – 99kg. SCP-1166’s whole body is covered by a hazmat suit reinforced by a heavy bulletproof vest, knee pads and elbow pads, and an armored helmet. The face is covered with a panoramic gas mask with a reflective coating, making it impossible to be seen. The design of this equipment is reminiscent of typical modern army models, but does not repeat any known model. An unusual feature is the assembly of the filter boxes of the gas mask in the form of a shoulder pack connected to the mask with a corrugated flap, and their very large size. The equipment also includes a belt pouch for MPL (small infantry spade) and a water flask with a volume of about 1 liter, connected to a gas mask with a drinking tube. All of the above equipment is an inseparable part of SCP-1166’s body: the fabric is tightly fused with her skin, the joints of individual garments, fasteners, buckles, valves, etc., except for the lid of the flask, can be seen visually, but are inseparably connected. Biopsy, endoscopy and diagnostic operations showed the following: there is no clear boundary between the fabric of the suit and the underlying skin. Connective tissue fibers and individual epithelial cells grow into the material to a considerable thickness, in places up to the surface. Her ‘skin’ is a patchwork of intertwined epidermis and synthetic fabric of the hazmat suit. The patches of epidermis have little in common with ordinary healthy skin and instead resemble a continuous scar or a scab littered with spots of necrosis and microabscesses. This is similar to the skin that has recovered from extensive superficial burns or damage by chemical agents. The superficially located fabric fibers are partially charred, as could be the case after exposure to a short but extremely powerful light flash, have traces of radiation degradation and damage by a chemically aggressive environment. The mucosa of the upper respiratory tract spreads beyond its limits, also covering the lower part of the space under the gasmask and the inner surface of the valves, breathing hose and filter box up to the inlet, and also bears signs of chronic damage by chemical agents. The upper part of the undermask space (behind the viewing glass) is lined from the inside with live tissue, similar to the cornea of the eye, and filled with liquid. There is no separate anterior chamber of the eye, the pupil opening is facing directly into the gasmask space. Keratin fibers that form hair and nails are formed in a layer corresponding to the skin but gradually they are replaced along their length by synthetic clothing material and eventually organically woven into its structure. Any damage to the skin of the subject heals over time, similar to the regeneration of ordinary human skin. Rigid equipment parts (armor plates, buckles, buttons, grommets, valve rings, etc.) can fuse together like bones when damaged. SCP-1166’s only physiological needs are breathing and drinking water in volumes normal for humans. She drinks from her flask she periodically fills; its internal volume is divided into two parts by a membrane filter, which allows her to drink highly contaminated water. ## SCP-1166’s abilities SCP-1166’s ability to tolerate harsh radiation and the highest concentrations of toxic substances without any harmful consequences far exceeds that which could be explained by the protective properties of the suit alone. Through experiments it was discovered that SCP-1166 can withstand neutron and gamma irradiation, various poisons and 36 lethal doses of β-████ intravenously. The only change in SCP-1166's condition after such experiments was a more or less prolonged (up to a day) cough, in which mucus was released through the exhalation valve of the gas mask containing all toxins and radionuclides that entered the body or formed in it. Any pathogenic microorganisms are removed in the same way. This effect also makes it impossible to use anesthetics and tranquilizers on SCP-1166. SCP-1166 has no tactile or pain sensitivity, and can be freely subjected to experiments when she sleeps. In addition, it is advisable to remove her from her cell when she is asleep, as in the waking state she will resist. SCP-1166 possesses superhuman strength, reflexes, and never gets tired. ## SCP-1166’s personality Despite her abilities SCP-1166 demonstrates a number of fears, primarily before radio-chemical-biological threats. She becomes relatively calm only if she stays in a room that can be regarded as a safe haven from weapons of mass destruction. In a calm state, SCP-1166 spends most of her time sitting on the floor and rocking back and forth. She does not respond to attempts to communicate. If the calm state lasts for more than a few days, she begins from time to time, without a clear periodicity, to fall asleep for 3-4 hours. If SCP-1166 is outside a safe haven, she immediately tries either to find one, or to hide on the spot as effectively as possible, using all available methods and means. Indoors, for example, she blocks the windows with furniture, settles under the table in the farthest corner. Outside, she searches for entrances to basements, sewer wells, as well as various objects that can enhance their protective properties. If she fails to create a relatively safe haven in this way, she will try again and again to leave the place that she considers dangerous. In one experiment, she tried to leave the room in which she was locked continuously for 78 hours (until the experiment stopped), repeatedly examining it to find a way to exit and checking the only door on average every 4 minutes. If she manages to achieve an acceptable degree of protection, she will continue to strengthen it until she has exhausted all possibilities for this, and only then will she calm down. The most extreme case of this behavior was demonstrated during the experiments at the outdoor range: finding herself in an open area, SCP-1166 immediately began excavation work, constructing an underground shelter. Working around the clock without interruptions, she first made an open gap, then developed it into a blocked one, then into a dugout and, finally, a full-fledged buried shelter. The design of these structures bore the obvious features of an army field fortification. Since the possibility of building up a protective soil layer is practically unlimited, she continued to work even after it went beyond the obvious expediency, spending a total of 39 days doing this with interruptions aside from filling her flask. SCP-1166 is usually completely indifferent towards other people, but the more sudden are the outbursts of aggression that take place when there’s an attack on her safety (attempts to take her out of the shelter or the slightest obstruction when she works to reinforce it). She responds with aggression to provocative actions that remind her with nuclear attacks and the use of chemical and biological weapons. SCP-1166 also shows aggression towards people who at least remotely resemble representatives of law enforcement: she tries to hide from them, but if she sees that she has been discovered, she does not hesitate to attack first. When attacking, she tries, if possible, to take possession of a weapon or uses any improvised objects as such, most often her MPL, in handling which she demonstrates experience and skill, in particular, the skill to throw it accurately at a target at a distance of up to 15 m. The criteria by which people are defined by SCP-1166 as hostile are vague; but possession of weapons and being in a uniform is a guarantee that she will attack. SCP-1166’s equipment makes the use of traumatic ammunition, stun guns, irritating gases and stun grenades ineffective against her. Therefore, strongarm tactics and handcuffs remain the most effective method of neutralization. ## SCP-1166’s backstory The subject has been detected ██.██.████ not far from the village ███████ (███████ region) during the search for the missing A. ██████v. Apparently, the missing person was a so-called "archaeological looter"; while searching for WWII-era dugouts, he came across a shelter built by SCP-1166 in a forest area and was killed by her while trying to get inside. SCP-1166 was initially captured by law enforcement and quickly attracted the attention of an embedded employee of SCP Foundation after rumors spread about unsuccessful attempts to remove her helmet or gloves for photography and fingerprinting. SCP-1166 was removed from the prison cell and replaced by an amnesiac Class D employee equipped with similar equipment. During the further investigation, the said employee, for obvious reasons, could not give any explanation for what happened, was identified as an escaped prisoner, found guilty of murder and sent for compulsory treatment. Returned to the Foundation through the usual recruitment procedure for Class D staff. The origin of SCP-1166: A number of indirect signs indicate that the subject of SCP-1166 is an object of quasi-reality created by SCP-1147 during the last experiment to study its properties. The loss of SCP-1147 during the experiment led to a local puncture of the fabric of reality, through which a limited implantation of quasi-real objects into the space of objective reality took place. Currently SCP-1166 is contained at the Russian branch of the SCP Foundation. ## SCP-1166’s speech patterns SCP-1166 was not recorded to have ever spoken once. She had never responded to any attempts at communication or had ever interacted with someone in a way that is not described as 'fight-or-flight', but it seems she does understand speech.
