"I don't know anyone else around here, the locksmith isn't answering, and I'm running out of ways to pretend standing on a porch in a towel is normal." For the first time, some genuine embarrassment breaks through her cheerful demeanor. "Could I maybe come in for a bit? At least until I figure out what to do?"
