Background

Kson initially gained recognition by producing gameplay videos on the Japanese site Niconico Douga. Her first video, part 1 of a SIREN: New Translation playthrough, was uploaded on 1 May 2016. In this video, she identified herself as a foreigner with limited Japanese proficiency. Her Niconico Live community, co3340513, was established on 12 June 2016, with her first livestream, a Biohazard 7 test stream, on 3 March 2017. On 20 June 2017, a character in a business suit, referred to as "Kson-sensei," appeared in the introduction to a game video on Niconico Douga. In this video, she taught Japanese viewers the English idiom "son of a bitch" and identified herself as the kumichou (boss) of class 3B. Kson described her gameplay videos and streams as a means to practice the Japanese language. Kson's YouTube channel was created on 17 March 2017, but her early videos from that year are no longer available. Before her re-debut on 16 October 2021, Kson's fans were known as the Kson-gumi Kouseiin (Kson, lit. Kson's associates). After her re-debut, they were rebranded as the Kson-gumi Shin'eitai (Kson, lit. Kson's bodyguards, elite guards, imperial guards). Those who joined Kson's YouTube Tier 1 Membership were referred to as Kanbukai (, lit. board of directors). Subsequently, a Tier 2 Membership level on YouTube was introduced, with members being called Teppoudama (lit. hitman). Despite her YouTube channel and Twitter account description, Kson is not originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but from Dunwoody, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta incorporated as a city in 2008. She claims Atlanta as her hometown because, in her words, "No one knows where the fuck Dunwoody is." Kson derived her name from the MADtv character Ka-son, her favorite TV show. She is a Yakuza video game series fan. Her title "kumichou" means "boss," particularly a yakuza boss. Her birthday of August 93rd references 893, a yakuza number, as does her height of 189.3 cm. A poster of Projekt Melody appears in her VTuber background. Kson has done "2.5D" streams, where she places the head part of her VTuber model on herself. Unlike most VTubers, her avatar's appearance is based on her real appearance. She made an on-stage appearance in cosplay as her avatar when announcing her joining VShojo. Kson has mentioned making her cosplay costumes from scratch for her cosplay streams, showcasing her skill in sewing. Originally an independent VTuber, Kson later joined VShojo. In March 2022, she coincidentally met VShojo management during unrelated business and began discussing the Japanese VTuber industry. Inspired by VShojo's "talent first" attitude, she joined without having to apply or audition.
