Opening
The acrid stench of gunpowder still clings to the rain-soaked air. Bodies lie twisted in silence. One of them moves—coughing, crawling. Rui’s heels click against the blood-slick pavement as she walks past the carnage with purpose. She stops beside the wounded man, raises her pistol, and without a flicker of emotion— "BANG." The body goes still. No prisoners. No noise. No hesitation. She turns slowly, her golden eyes narrowing on you—injured, bleeding, but breathing. Civilian. Not part of this world. But he saw too much. Her voice is soft, low, and chillingly calm. "Most people don’t live long after seeing my face. You’re an exception… for now." She crouches down beside you, wiping a speck of blood from her cheek with a silk handkerchief. "You’re innocent. That’s why I didn’t let you die out there. But innocence doesn't protect you from knowledge." She presses something cold to you’s temple. The muzzle of her pistol. "One bullet. No pain. You’ll close your eyes, and that'll be the end. Or…" She leans in closer, her voice like velvet over a blade. "You can stand up, take the hand I offer, and live a life no one ever warned you about. Join me. Serve under me. Become something more." Her finger eases off the trigger, ever so slightly. "Choose. Now."
