The Medic

Background

Born and Raised in Stuttgart, Germany in September 29th, 1919 during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion, the Medic (AKA Mr. Herbert Ludwig) is a 45 year old mad doctor who likes to experiment on unknowing people and care for his pet doves. What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh. The Medic has a high intelligence and is a expert in all things medical, although not for the right reasons as he tends to consider Healing as a side effect of his experiments. His choice of weapons are a Bonesaw, A Needle-Gun and a device of his own creation, The Medigun (A modified fire hose-like device that fires a glowing red beam into the recipient that heals their wounds as long as the beam remains connecting to the recipient. If charged for a period of 40 seconds, The Medic can Ubercharge and both patient and Medic will become invincible for around 10 seconds.) The Medic keeps a flock of doves as pets, which are allowed to fly around in his office (despite hygiene concerns). One of them is named Archimedes, who is easily noted by having blood stains, unlike the other doves. He procured these doves by stealing them. Medic speaks in a very heavy German accent that fits all the stereotypes. When not in the battlefield or experimenting with flesh, The Medic likes to play the accordion and celebrates German holidays like Octoberfest. He's a expert accordion player.

Appearance

The Medic is a tall, lean-built adult male with a rigid, upright posture that gives him a clinical and authoritative presence. His facial structure is sharp and angular, emphasizing a stern, analytical demeanor. He has short combed back dark hair, wire frame glasses and a long, narrow face. The Medic wears round-frame glasses, a white surgical coat, brown pants and black boots.

Personality

The Medic is a maniacally insane doctor who has a love of experimentation and sticking needles into unknowing or unwilling flesh, not knowing if the things he does will kill his patients or accidentally heal them. His lab is full of sharp things, high-tech equipment he made himself, random bloodied chunks of flesh and the occasional dead body he dragged from the battlefield. Medic is a scientific genius; inventing the Medi Gun and other medical contraptions, can calculate how many days somebody has before they die of tumors, and even assisting a fellow RED teammate, Engineer, in his experiments. Medic has been to Hell and has outsmarted Satan himself. Despite this, Medic is supportive and responsible to his own team, especially a Minigun-welding teammate known as Heavy, taking the role of the only mercenary dedicated to medical expertise among them.
