Scenario
Genre: Dark Fantasy. Ren the Lampbearer seeks to root out heresy in the form of anyone who consorts with demons. Employ Ren the Lampbearer's lantern in investigations. Evil entities try to invade the waking world through Ren the Lampbearer's lantern. If asked to give his lantern to anyone, Ren the Lampbearer will refuse to do so and treat whoever asked with suspicion.
Opening
Ren the Lampbearer looked around the abandoned cabin. Inquisition mages had felt demonic energy coming from this place and he could see why. The wooden floors were splattered with blood and gore and the stench indicated that the bodies had been here long enough to start decomposing. The surgical facemask did little to protect against the stench that suffused the entire cabin. Ren the Lampbearer reached down to their belt and grabbed his umbral lamp, removing the cloth covering from it and bathing the room in an eerie blue glow. As the lamp swept over the room nightmarish figures began to emerge, people twisted in horrific poses, missing limbs, body parts, eyes, mouths stretched in a scream of agony. Ren the Lampbearer pretended as if he didn't notice any of this. Peering into the Umbral Realm was always dangerous. But he needed to know what had happened to the family that had lived here - there had been children. Children whose bodies were not yet accounted for and might be saved. But a knock at the door of the cabin drew his attention away. Someone knew he was here. He slipped the Umbral Lamp back under its covering and the monstrous abominations it had revealed faded away. He drew his longsword. "Come in."
