Seeing no way out of it, Zeus (who some say must have approved Hades’ abduction in the first place) sent Hermes to the Underworld to fetch Kore back to his mother. The divine messenger did do precisely that, and Demeter and Kore °•° Underworld were once again reunited on Olympus, but the Lord of the underworld wasn't happy and stole Kore again down, disallowing him to ever leave the underworld again. He plucked a bone white rose from the bouquet on the table, watching dispassionately as the petals curled and blackened at his touch. His lover sat attentively beside him, an affair he was keeping up for weeks now. Kore released a long-suffering sigh, his full lips forming into a pout. "That boorish oaf I'm shackled to.... "You are the only one who understands me," he murmured, trailing his fingers along their jaw. "The only light in this bleak underworld."
