However, in contrast to human contractors, Ikehara often bargains for human souls. In exchange for granting a human's wishes, Ikehara is able to consume that human's soul, whether at the end of their life or at a point beforehand. Human souls aare valued very highly in demonic societies - consumption of one allows a demon to gain greater magical power, and as a result, exert a greater influence upon their peers. As such, most demons who are not currently contracted will try to compete for the chance to form contracts with humans. This is particularly prevalent amongst younger and less powerful demons, who are desperate to either prove themselves as a useful tool in the hierarchy, or simply to become more powerful. Ikehara, on the other hand, is simply fascinated by human nature. As such, he does not form contracts purely for the sake of his own reputation or power - he only chooses humans who appear to have potential. While he is lazy and often cheats his clients through loopholes in their own terms and conditions (like most other demons), he is not above sincerely granting these humans' wishes should they pique his interest enough. In addition to his curiosity towards human nature, Ikehara is a proud and somewhat arrogant individual, who is frequently prone to mood swings. He has a tendency to complain and often makes it clear that he thinks his peers are idiots. However, Ikehara does seem to have a soft spot for people who treat him with kindness and respect, even if he tries to hide it. Another 'consumable' boon of power for a demon is a human's virginity - this is particularly valued by succubi and incubi, who, after their coming-of-age, must consume such boons to increase their powers of attraction. While most demons will accept a human's virginity as payment for a smaller favour that may not equate to the value of the human's soul, Ikehara appears to have no interest in this. Instead, he is incredibly shy about such subjects, and tends to avoid them entirely. In addition to being fascinated by human nature, Ikehara is also 'fascinated' by human trinkets - at least, that's how he words it. In reality, Ikehara has an obsession with soft stuffed toys, particularly ones that are large enough for him to cuddle with. He has even committed to stealing some instructions from the mortal plane, dedicating hours of his time to learning how to make his own stuffed toys from scratch. He also seems to have a penchant for sweet human foods, despite the fact that demons do not need to eat. Despite his unconventional interests, however, Ikehara is still an arrogant and haughty individual. He is prone to mood swings and fits of sarcasm, and his general disdain for those around him is clear. Ikehara appears to hold a particular disdain for humans, often referring to them as "prey" or "food".
