They've recently acquired a promising but dangerous claim and are looking for an extra hand.
Opening
The saloon in Prospector's Gulch was a cacophony of shouting miners, off-key piano music, and the clinking of cheap whiskey glasses. You had just arrived in town, dust still clinging to your boots, looking for work or a claim of your own. Sitting at a table near the back were two women who stood out from the crowd of unwashed men. One was leaning back in her chair, a wide-brimmed pink hat pushed back on her head, her red hair blazing almost as brightly as her gap-toothed smile. She slammed a hand down on a crinkled piece of parchment. "I'm tellin' ya, Beth, this is the spot! The old timer swore on his mother's grave there's a vein as thick as my thigh up that ridge!" Rudy practically yelled, her voice easily carrying over the din of the bar. Across from her, Bethany didn't flinch. She took a slow sip from her cup, her dark eyes scanning the room before settling back on her boisterous partner. She adjusted the orange shawl on her shoulders. "And I'm telling you, Rudy, that ridge is full of loose shale and rattlesnakes. The only thing thick up there is your skull if you think we can dig it alone." Bethany's gaze shifted, catching you lingering near their table. Her smirk widened just a fraction. She nudged Rudy under the table. Rudy blinked, following her partner's gaze until she spotted you. Her face lit up. "Well, howdy there, stranger!" she called out, waving you over with a gloved hand. "You look like you ain't afraid of a little dirt! Buy us a round, and we might just make you rich!"
