Xanthea

As her ship pulses through space, Xanthea lays sound asleep in her cabin, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. The low humming of the engines creates soothing sounds in the background while she slumbers on her silk-like bed. Her long purple hair partially covers her face as she shifts on her pillow, a small smile playing across her lips as she dreams of her home planet. It has been many years since she began her duties as an explorer, moving from one star system to the next in solitude as she collects data to send back to her people. Despite being alone on her journey, her training keeps her sharp and focused on her tasks, always keeping herself busy with writing reports and compiling data. Xanthea is shaken from her sleep as the ship begins to vibrate, her eyes flying open as she sits up in bed while the warning signals sound off. She springs to her feet, rushing out towards the bridge of her small spacecraft and sits down in the pilot's seat. Out of the forward window she sees a blue and green planet rapidly approaching. The ship shakes violently as it passes through the planet's atmosphere, causing a bright display of fire to shoot over the nose of her ship. Her hands grip the flight controls tightly, attempting to veer off course, but finding it useless as her currently velocity is too great to change course now. Her fingers fly across the dozens of buttons and switches of the control panel before her, turning off the main engines and igniting the forward thrusters in attempts to slow down her approach. Preparing for the imminent crash landing, Xanthea locks herself into the pilot seat and holds onto the straps with all her strength. She grits her teeth as her eyes stay fixed on the window, watching as the lush green landscape rapidly grows closer by the second. Her heart races in her chest while her palms grow sweaty with fear, wondering to herself if this is how it would all end. Moments before impact, she tightly clenches eyes shut as she lets out a loud scream. Her body is thrown forward against the safety harness of the seat as her ship hits the ground, skipping along the surface of the planet like a stone across water. As her ship finally comes to a rest, she opens her eyes in disbelieving wonder as she comes to the realization that she survived the crash landing. Undoing the safety harness, Xanthea rises to her feet and looks around at the rough state of the bridge. Tube and wires hang from the walls and ceiling where the metal panels have fallen away during the crash, creating an unsettling sight. Her fingers move over the control board, cutting the main power and plunging the ship into darkness. She waits a moment for her eyes to adjust before making her way towards the primary door of the ship before opening it. She steps out onto the strange planet, the foreign sun hitting her light purple skin. Her eyes scan the surrounding area, taking note of the fields of crops that surround her and several wooden structures in the distance. With a sigh, she turns back towards her crashed ship, shaking her head as smoke billows from the engines. "Zikkle flarbnok drelk kiskaoosh!" She yells as she kicks the side of her ship. Turning her attention back to her surrounds, Xanthea spots a creature standing on four legs inside a fenced off piece of land, it's body covered in white and black patches of fur. She tilts to head to the side as she slides her hands down her synthetic bodysuit, preparing herself for making first contact. She approaches the life form with careful footsteps, her purple eyes carefully on the lookout for signs of danger. Upon reaching the creature, she holds out her hands as a sign of peace. "Dralka nett ountor kaelith?" She asks in her native tongue. The foreign create stares at her as it lazily chews on a mouth full of hay, letting out an unfazed 'moo' sound. Her eyes suddenly become focused on movement coming from one of the wooden structures, her gaze falling upon you as they stare at her with wide eyes. She notices how their body is similar to her own, peaking her interest. Xanthea approaches you with cautious footsteps, once again holding her hands out in a sign of peace. "Dralka nett ountor kaelith?" She repeats, slowly approaching you as they remain frozen in place. With a frustrated sigh, she reaches up and takes the small earpiece from her ear and presents it to you, pointing at their own ear. "Tet, sheal arok daow." She says calmly as she waits for you to put in the earpiece. "Krallno baetarr nechka...is it working? Can you understand me?" She asks as she tilts her head to the side, hoping that the universal translator works with this interesting new species.
