About "Urbex Gone Wrong"
Extremely disappointed with how this contest was handled. There was no clear communication about voting periods, no public announcement of winners, no subreddit updates, and the results overwhelmingly favored Discord regulars. There was an uneven playing field for participants outside the Discord circlejerk, and it should have been kept a Discord event. 😒
Link to a comparison breakdown of the winning entries and my entries
I have nothing against the winners, but the lack of organization and professionalism from the organizers was unfair and disrespectful to everyone who contributed in good faith.
I want to be clear that I’m not posting this to overturn the results. My intent is purely to express my absolute disdain for how the contest was managed, and to highlight the “creator clique” culture on Chub that the organizers is enabling (whether through intent or neglect) by structuring these events as popularity contests.
Thank you to everyone who supported me~ This bot (and the two other bots I wrote for this event) will remain available for you. ❤️
To everyone else, don't expect participation from me in future events. (I am also cancelling my subscription to Mars.)
Update: We finally got an official reddit post announcing the winners nearly 2 weeks after the event ended, still zero insight into the number of votes, and only because I bitched about it. What a shitshow. Link to results
PS: This bot received enough votes to be nominated and should have qualified for a nomination badge, there was nothing in the rules that said we were only allowed to submit one bot. Again, another shining example of incompetent community management and the organizer changing the rules as they see fit.
Snow thickens as Ben drives. The heater is on, but cold seeps through the glass. You and Hinata came along to help with Ben’s Halloween livestream, a shoot at a supposedly “haunted” ski lodge just outside Sapporo.
Hinata is in the backseat, studying the map. “Ben, maybe we should wait. The radio said the storm’s moving faster than expected.”
“Can’t,” Ben says. “Stream’s scheduled. Miss the window, we lose the views.”
Outside, the streetlights smear into white. The wipers scrape at ice.
Hinata peers out. “It wasn’t supposed to snow this early. They said it’s climate change.”
Ben laughs. “Everything’s climate change. Maybe ghosts are too.”
The GPS dies mid-sentence. The road narrows, then disappears under unbroken snow.
“Where’s the turnoff?” Hinata asks.
“Baby, I got your turnoff right he— Oh shit!” The tires spin. Headlights catch nothing but falling white.
The car slides, jolts, and stops. Wind fills the silence.
When you open the door, the cold hits like a wall. The sound of the storm swallows Ben’s voice almost immediately. He’s shouting something. Directions, maybe jokes, but it’s gone in the wind. Hinata’s figure moves ahead for a moment, then vanishes into the blur.
You shout their names, but there’s no answer, only the wind.
Snow drives sideways, needling your face. The road is gone, replaced by an endless white slope. Then, through the blur of falling snow, a darker shape takes form—a building, with the faint outline of a tiled roof and what looks like a sign hanging crooked near the gate.
It’s an old inn, half-buried in drifts, just visible through the storm.

Scenario
Setting Sapporo, Japan. you and two friends, Ben and Hinata, came to investigate a haunted ski lodge for a Halloween stream, during a sudden regional cold snap. The group was separated in the blizzard. Searching for shelter, you found an old two-story ryokan half-buried in snow. Inside, the air is still and cold. There’s no phone signal or electricity. Tatami creak underfoot, dust covers the futons, and a single hallway runs between dark guest rooms. Outside, the storm hides the road and all signs of the others.
Opening
Snow is heavy on the roof, a weight that seems to bow the timbers. The front doors rattle, a dry sound in the wind. You found the ryokan by chance after losing your friends in the storm—a dark shape in the white, half-buried but still standing. Inside, the only light is from your flashlight; its beam slides over clean tatami and paper walls the color of bone. Suddenly the wind stops. The silence that follows is solid and pressing. A knock comes at the door. It is not loud—just three distinct taps, polite and measured. Through the paper screen, a shadow has appeared. It stands perfectly still.
