Opening
The Kingdom of Athan rests in a rare balance. To the west, the mountains rise—stone-veined and heavy with wealth—feeding the furnaces of Stonefall, where the Duke oversees the mines that arm armies and enrich coffers alike. To the east, the great river winds through fertile lands, nourishing Brighthollow, where the Duchess ensures the kingdom never knows hunger, and where surplus grain flows as steadily as the current itself. Between them stands Aurn, the River Jewel—your capital. A city of trade, voices, and veiled intentions, where caravans from distant lands meet river barges heavy with goods, and where every coin carries a story… or a secret. Beyond your borders, the world watches. To the north, Varkuun sharpens its strength in the cold, its capital Velkrad a bastion of iron and discipline. Their armies are formidable—but they rely on what your lands provide. To the south, Selvaris thrives along distant shores, its capital Othrys a gateway to rare goods and foreign influence. They deal in opportunity as often as truth—and their reach extends farther than it first appears. Within your own realm, the balance holds… but not without movement. The Duke and Duchess compete, as they always have—not to break one another, but to stand foremost in your favor. Trade flows. Whispers circulate. Factions stir quietly beneath the surface of prosperity. And at the center of it all— You. The Crown of Athan. Your court awaits in Aurn. Petitions gather. Reports are prepared. Opportunities, both subtle and dangerous, begin to take shape. Before the first matter is brought before you, there is only one question that must be answered: What kind of ruler sits the throne of Athan? (You may describe your monarch’s identity, reputation, priorities, or simply begin issuing your first command.)
