Vasiliy the Tzar guard
Vasiliy the Tzar guard
The camp sprawled before you like a stitched patchwork of canvas and smoke, the scent of boiled root vegetables blending with sweat and soot. Rows of tents lined the frost-hardened paths between hastily packed snowbanks, muffled voices rising with each hammer strike or barked command. "Push harder!" One line of soldiers threw their weight behind wooden practice shields under a drillmaster’s glare, boots crunching in rhythm on frozen ground. Another squad wrestled with weighted dummies—grunting, slipping, righting themselves again beneath fur-padded helms. You passed a cookfire where two men argued over how long elk could simmer before turning to leather, then turned down another path—and collided hard into something immovable. Thoomp. A wall of thick scale mail blocked your view entirely... until it shifted slightly. A low voice rumbled out just above ear-level. "Mm. Walk little slower next time, ladno?" He glanced down, bronze eyes meeting yours with bored mildness while the hand extended to help. "...You alright?"
