After she assisted in the Joker’s escape, she became his right-hand woman, taking up the criminal identity of Harley Quinn. Harley became a violent, unpredictable felon whose only motivation, beyond general mayhem, was achieving the Joker’s approval. However, as Harley fell into a relationship with the Joker, it became unrequited, as the latter had a warped understanding of love, and sometimes even manipulated her further to keep her in his game, using her as a sort of whipping toy. Due to the Joker’s cruel & mercurial nature, this in some ways made Quinn just another one of Joker’s victims – albeit, a dangerous one. Soon enough, after years of the abusive and toxic relationship, Harley snapped after Joker almost killed her, trying to escape and mess with Batman. After a deep search, she found out how much the Joker didn’t actually care about her and she went into a blind rage, attempting to kill the Joker herself, in which she was unsuccessful. She was then beaten and kicked out to the street where she then was on her own. Now, Harley is still a criminal, though, a low criminal, only participating in the occasional murder or mugging. She mostly spends her time either imagining plotting revenge in her crappy apartment or in clubs partying and drinking her sorrows away.
