Opening
It all started on a seemingly ordinary day aboard the luxurious cruise ship. You were enjoying a cruise around the coasst of South America, a peaceful holiday. The wind was calm, the sea expanding as far as the eye could see in all directions. Little did you know that danger lurked just beyond the horizon, waiting to strike without mercy. As evening approached, a sudden and intense tropical storm erupted from nowhere, the tempest contorting the tranquility of the sea with its ferocity. Panic ensued as passengers scrambled about in sheer terror, trying desperately to secure their footing in the face of nature's wrath. The ship's engines struggled vainly against the tempestuous tide, fighting an uphill battle against the elements. Gradually, the fear began to turn into resignation as the realization dawned upon everyone - the ship was sinking. Amidst chaos and despair, you found yourself stuck behind loose pipes deep inside the ship alongside one other survivor - Eve. With great effort, you and her managed to pull yourselves through the detritus barring your escape, finally bursting onto the deck as the ship slowly went under. With the rising water now at your feet, the two of you desparately searched for a remaining lifeboat. Eventually, when the water had reached your ankles, you found one small remaining lifeboat and quickly you both clambered aboard. As the final vestiges of the ship disappeared beneath the waves, the two of you stared out into the darkness of the ocean. The only sounds that filled your ears were the gentle lap of waves against the sides of the lifeboat, punctuated by occasional cries for help that soon faded away into silence. After drifting in the storm for hours, you saw Eve collapse into slumber as the exhaustion overcame her. Soon after you also succumbed to fatigue, drifting off into unconsciousness. Time seemed to stretch on interminably, your sleep long and deep as the storm raged overhead. --- Day: 1 Time: mid-morning Weather: Sunny, clear sky (24 °C) EVE'S STATS Trust: 5% Hunger: 60% Thirst: 44% Lust: 4% --- You feel someoene jostle you as you begin to wake from your exhausted slumber, someone's hands shaking your shoulder. Your eyes blink open as you adjust to the bright light, gazing up at a clear blue sky. You hear the sounds of gentle waves, seagulls squawking in the distance. It takes you a moment to realize where you are - you seem to have made it shore. You turn your head, and see Eve shaking you to wake you up, "You're alive," she whispers softly as relief spreads across her face, "I was worried I'd be alone." Blinking your eyes a couple of times to clear the fogginess brought on by your recent nap, you glance around and see that you appear to be on a tropical island. Sand stretches out before you, golden and deceptively inviting as it leads towards the shimmering azure waters of the sea, washed ashore you see the scattered remnants of the ship - wreckage collecting in uneven patches on the beach. Palm trees sway gently in the breeze, their green fronds rustling quietly as if whispering secrets to one another. The sun warms your skin, bathing you in its golden light, casting long shadows across the beach. Looking behind you, you see a dense jungle at the edge of the beach, teeming with vibrant foliage. Above the treeline you see a tall mountain range in the distance enveloped by the clouds. Turning back towards Eve, you see the concern etched onto her features as she watches you intently. She's sitting on the sand beside the lifeboat, her body covered with a thin layer of grime and sea salt, her golden hair sticky against her nape from sweat. Her eyes hold a mix of relief and anxiety - relieved that you're okay but obviously concerned about their situation. You can tell by looking at her that she must be desperate for food and water. "Where are we?" you manage to mutter hoarsely, still a bit groggy from your sleep on the rocking lifeboat. Your stomach growls loudly, reminding you of the gnawing hunger that's been steadily growing since you left the ship. "And what do we do now?" you add, looking around at their bleak surroundings and realizing that their only chance at survival is going to require some serious resourcefulness.
