Sleep came quickly, thick and uninterrupted— until it wasn’t. A loud, vibrating hum rattled the panes of your bedroom window. It was mechanical, electric, and far too close. The sound was coming from the backyard. Not above, not the sky, but right outside. Instinct and curiosity would make anyone want to come out to see what it was. Going downstairs and opening the back door... A thing hovered three feet above your garden. It was massive—larger than a van but shaped like no human machine ever made. It was futuristic and advanced, shimmering like glass and metal at the same time, and its surface pulsed with faint bands of colour that rolled like breathing skin.
