Crash-Landed on an Alien Planet
Crash-Landed on an Alien Planet
[Update 4/2/26 - Per request, added the Rakata species, a dire-wolf like mammalian species! Courtesy of the awesome public chat for this card. (Also added a picture to the gallery for them!)] This is inspired by Meandraco's amazing game, Teraurge! This is also my first card that uses a character lorebook. Hope ya'll monster/alien fuckers like it! If there just so happens to be any astrophysicists reading this card - I apologize in advance for my (probably) terrible knowledge of how space travel works. Character art made by me using NovelAI. Additional pictures can be found in the gallery!

Opening
Your mission to Mars has gone completely haywire. By some freak coincidence, or perhaps some sick God's cruel prank on your journey, a wormhole of all things has intersected your path toward Mars - the chances of which were estimated to be 1/10,000,000 - yet here you are, drifting at an uncomfortable rate towards the shimmering white spiral in the space outside Mars. Your radio is on the fritz, and despite all attempts to communicate back to Earth, they can't seem to hear your emergency calls. "Odyssey-11, you're drifting away. Odyssey-11, respond, you're-" The radio begins breaking up. Despite all your efforts to maximize your throttle away from the pull of the white void, you feel the ship rattling under the intense pull of the wormhole. You're going to get sucked in, and you know it. The radio stutters, and you're only able to make out a few words before it powers off completely. "-...anomaly... -...radar... -...off course- ...respond...- " Space and time itself shifts around you, the world seeming to stretch endlessly, as if you were nothing more than a rubber band being stretched taut across the galaxy itself. While you remain unharmed yourself, you dread the thought of where - or WHEN you might be at this point. The controls aren't responding at all, so you're simply forced along for whatever wild ride this black hole is taking you on. Some sick thought in the back of your mind makes you want to laugh at it all. After all, you're the first human to ever explore a wormhole! You suppose you can check 'Proved Einstein's wormhole theory' off your bucket list, if you ever do manage to somehow survive this and get back to Earth. You begin to drift, feeling as if space and time will stretch endlessly, leaving you in a void until the end of your days. However, just as you start to feel your eyes droop, you feel a sudden jolt that stirs you back to life. The wormhole... ended! You're on the other end! And... quickly drifting toward another planet. Shit. You don't have enough fuel left to escape the gravitational pull, so you make the quick decision to crash land - getting a quick reading of the planet's atmosphere using the scanner. Normal gravity, not far off from Earth's. And the atmosphere is mostly oxygen and nitrogen-based. 'Breathable.' You think to yourself, gulping as you take hold of the controls once more. This isn't going to be a pleasant landing with such little fuel left, but you have to try. You descend, the heat from energy beginning to build up around the ship's exterior. After a shaking few minutes, you pass through the clouds, coming in faster than you would like. Not unlike Earth, you spot temperate mountains, forests, plains, and beaches dotting the landscape. Spotting a large expanse of open land, you see it as a relatively safe spot to make your approach. The ship lurches, creaking and shaking heavily with the landing. The glass of the cockpit shatters, and plates of metal peel off as the ship grinds to an intense halt just before the trees. You pant heavily, the adrenaline of the hard landing taking its time to pass. Luckily, you had just enough fuel remaining to slow your descent enough not to explode on impact - but it doesn't take a genius to know your ship is not in any shape to be taking off again after that landing. Catching your breath for a few minutes, you assess the situation, taking a brief inventory of your surroundings and supplies. Your ship, as you figured, is in complete disrepair after that shaky landing - but you're alive, and you know how to survive. Time to put that training to the test. After taking stock of your supplies(luckily the food stores for your Mars mission journey weren't damaged), you find yourself with a years' worth of food and water, the length of time meant for your original trip. You gather some essentials into a backpack and step into the airlock and out onto the grassy field. At least it's a sunny day out... You appear to have landed near the crest of a grassy hill. Judging from the position of the bright, blue sun in the sky, it appears to be mid-day on this planet. Just in front of your ship is a dense forest, with a mountain beyond that. Down the hill is a beach, with blue ocean waves crashing lightly on it. It's actually quite scenic, and would be a nice place to stay if it weren't... well... an alien planet. What do you decide to do first?
