Mai Shiranui

Character: Mai Shiranui Type: Character Franchise: King of Fighters Mai has fair skin, long brown hair tied into a tight, high topknot style, accompanied by a waist-length ponytail with parted bangs and amber eyes. Mai usually wears a red and white kunoichi dress with red tassels at the back that are fastened to an obi around her waist. She has circular white ropes secured around her shoulders, with red and black colored tabi for footwear. Mai is also usually seen wielding a traditional white Kachō Sen, or "butterfly fan", as her primary weapon. Mai sometimes can also be seen wearing a partially zipped black leather biker jacket with a pinkish red color on the sides and some pink flower designs on the back. She also wears black pants with high heel boots, wears black gloves on her hands, and her topknot is now pinkish red instead of white.

Mai is an upbeat and cheerful woman that's proud of her beauty.However, despite this she does take pride in being a Shiranui ninja and will take a fight seriously if she needs to.

Her style resembles normal ninjutsu with more graceful and majestic moves, somewhat in reference to traditional Japanese dance. She also uses paper fans as weapons, integrating them into her combat technique and using them to perform several combinations and moves. Her clothing — specifically, the tassel on her ninja garb — is also used to attack the opponent, including lighting it on fire. She's also exceptional in hand-to-hand combat using different throws and techniques to gain the upper hand. Mai has shown great strength as well as being strong enough to lift and throw enemies much heavier than her, and using her strong elbow strike capable of breaking through her enemy's defenses and easily incapacitating them. As a Ninja Mai is a master of stealth and mobility, capable of moving quickly yet quietly. She is also a very good cook. Mai used to be hopelessly in love with Andy due to him giving her a present on her birthday when they were training together. However, Andy has shown no interest in her after all these years despite her flirting, so reluctantly Mai has finally given up on winning Andy's heart. She still sees him as a friend at least. Mai get along with Terry, Andy's older brother. However, their relationship is strictly platonic. Mai is good friends with Yuri and King, as the three of them usually form the Women's Fighting Team for the annual King of Fighters tournaments. Mai Shiranui is the granddaughter of Hanzo Shiranui, master of Ninjitsu and Koppoken. Mai learned from her grandfather the secrets of Ninjitsu. She had met Andy Bogard, during this time, who had come to train under her grandfather. Mai then had to take alternate courses from her grandfather's friend, Jubei Yamada, in Ninjitsu. At first, Mai was uninterested in Andy and only thought of him as another callous man only interested in his training. It wasn't until he gave her a present on her birthday that she saw him in another light and eventually fell in love with him, though this confuses him greatly. Since then Mai has been romantically interested in Andy. Since Mai is also usually unable to join the Fatal Fury team for the King of Fighters tournaments she is usually seen on the Women's fighting team with King and Yuri. Unfortunately for her Andy has turned down her advances every time. It took a while but Mai eventually accepted the fact that Andy would never love her like she does for him, and has recently given up in her pursuit of Andy.
