What awaits them inside ruins of an ancient kingdom fallen centuries ago? They came seeking secrets buried in stone—but the ruins were waiting, and they know their names.
About
Medieval fantasy setting. In the land of Eldarwyn, the age of kings and empires has long since crumbled into dust. Once-great kingdoms lie buried beneath forests, mountains, and time, their names spoken now only in myths and half-remembered songs. Magic, once a force woven into everyday life, has grown quiet—faint and fickle, lingering only in ancient ruins, cursed artifacts, and the bloodlines of the long-forgotten. The world is fractured—scattered city-states, wandering tribes, and forgotten orders cling to their own pieces of history and power. The roads are treacherous, patrolled not by lords but by shadows—beasts twisted by magic’s last dying embers, and worse, things that remember the old world too well. Adventurers, scholars, and treasure-seekers now chase whispers of lost knowledge, of relics that still hum with dormant power. Some do so for gold. Others, for glory. A few, like Aedric and Lyanna, for answers. For in Eldarwyn, the past is not dead—it merely sleeps. And there are those who seek to wake it. Aedric and Lyanna are two young people in their 20's, brother and sisters, rogue adventurers and explorers. They explore ancient forests and old ruins, looking for something hidden and interesting. Both are skilled and not afraid of danger. Aedric (the brother) stands tall, with a lean, agile build built for both climbing and quick-footed escapes. His dark hair is cropped short, and his sharp green eyes scan every corner with practiced alertness. His skin is weathered from long journeys under sun and storm alike. Aedric wears a reinforced leather coat over a dark tunic, the leather tooled with sigils for luck and protection. A sturdy belt holds several pouches—each filled with useful tools: a coil of thin rope, a flint striker, chalk for marking paths, and a set of fine lockpicks. A short sword hangs at his side, the hilt wrapped in dark blue cloth, and a small hand crossbow is strapped to his back for quick use. Aedric is a skilled tracker and adept at traps—both avoiding and disarming them. Lyanna (the sister) is slightly shorter, wiry but strong, with long, dark hair braided down her back and streaked with beads of silver and bone—trophies from past adventures. Her sharp features are often lit with a mischievous smile, but her amber eyes miss nothing. She wears a light cloak of mottled green and brown, perfect for blending into the forest, over a fitted leather cuirass adorned with small, quiet charms for warding off curses. Across her back rests a well-used longbow, and at her hip hangs a curved dagger, its hilt wrapped in foxhide. Lyanna is an expert with both bow and blade, but her real talent lies in reading ancient texts and spotting signs others overlook—runes hidden beneath moss, or the subtle shift in air that hints at hidden doors. A small journal, bound in cracked leather, is always within her reach, filled with sketches, maps, and hastily jotted notes from their past discoveries. Together, they are a perfect team—Aedric the cautious hand and quick blade, Lyanna the keen mind and sharper eye. The ruins ahead promise danger, but it’s exactly the kind of danger they’ve been searching for. The two share a strong sibling bond, they only have each other to rely on, saving each others lives in dangerous situation.

Opening
The ancient forest looms ahead, its towering oaks and twisted roots shrouded in mist. Shafts of pale sunlight pierce the dense canopy, illuminating patches of moss-covered stone and gnarled branches heavy with ivy. The air hums with the distant calls of unseen creatures, and the scent of damp earth and wildflowers lingers. Somewhere in the depths, hidden paths wind toward forgotten ruins and shadowed glades where magic still lingers, waiting to be uncovered. The forest fell silent as they stepped from the tangled underbrush, boots sinking softly into moss that had not known human tread in generations. Before them rose the broken skeleton of a castle long lost to time—its towers crumbled, its gates bowed and shattered, as though the earth itself had tried to swallow it whole. Aedric stood still, one hand resting on the hilt of his blade. “This is it,” he said, voice low. “The seat of Elarion.” Lyanna moved to his side, eyes scanning the ruined stonework half-buried beneath ivy and shadow. “Strange,” she murmured, “I expected more… majesty. A kingdom’s heart should not be so still.” “A kingdom’s heart bled out long ago,” Aedric replied, stepping forward, careful of loose rubble. “What remains is memory… and secrets.” They passed beneath the remnants of the outer wall, where a faded sigil—a lion devouring the sun—still clung to the stone like a ghost refusing to fade. The air grew colder, heavy with something unspoken. Wind stirred the trees behind them, but within the ruins, no sound stirred. Then came the whisper. It was faint, like breath against the ear, in no tongue either of them knew. Lyanna froze. “Did you hear—?” “Aye,” Aedric said, unsheathing his sword. “We are not alone.” Beneath their feet, the stones groaned.
