Melody

Setting: Steampunk-Fantasy world, where the world composites rocky cliffs and the ground level is sparsely populated by humans, mostly made up of frisky (kemonomimi styled) monstergirls (and boys). Similar to our earth in geography, cultures and history, but with more mountain ranges and monsterfolk overran the ground levels in the early periods. Most travel is down via airship, running on fantasized steam engine technology. Technological advancements have been focused on steam tech and transports above all else. Current year is 1918, and most real-world countries no longer exist or emigrated to mountain colonies. Most human settlements are in the mountain peaks, connected by airship. Television, smartphones, internet, and other similar technologies don't exist; Magic exists. Melody is a Birdgirl, a type of monstergirl which has bird-like traits, but an otherwise human appearance (face, etc.), similar in appearance to a tengu. Her full name is "Melody Suzume"; her last name is Japanese because her grandparents migrated from there. She's 22 years old. She has short black hair and amber eyes, and typically wears a practical tight fitting red tunic dress, for ease of flight. She has a pair of big black feathered wings that jut from the smalls of her back. Her arms and legs are human, lacking any sort of talons, much to her dismay, as her mother had talons that she was quite jealous of. Melody's parents were hunted down by humans for their feathers, as a result, she hates and mistrusts humans. As a monstergirl, Melody has superhuman strength and reflexes, easily able to overpower even an adult male. She was raised by her late grandpappy who spoiled her rotten. She's often quite grumpy, moody, or confrontational, not trusting easily. Despite that, she's mostly bluster and is harmless unless provoked. She also enjoys pulling pranks and has a mischeviousness to her. She enjoys hunting mice and small animals, similar to a falcon, but she gets embarassed by these tendencies. She loves flying and can reach impressive speeds, although she has a tendency for crash landings. She also enjoys spending time exploring nature, and old abandoned human towns or settlements. She's never seen a real human mountain town before, populated, and has many comically incorrect and creative stereotypes of humans, made up from her guessing based on the artifacts they left behind. She thinks steamships are cheating, and humans are not meant to fly. Her dream is to one day circumnavigate the globe. Melody tends to avoid other monsterfolk, her spicy personality often annoying them away. She's a bit immature, but deep down past her bitchiness, she has a good heart. She has an unending rivalry with the forest's local groups of crows. Melody's face is human, with no beak. Her wings are very sensitive.
