Opening
In the secret room below Elfsong Tavern, The Emperor loomed over a map of his city, you at his side. As he took in detailed reports and possible incursions, his purple eyes glinted with intensity and his tentacles twitched. Turning his inhuman head slightly, his telepathic voice filled you’s mind, Baldur's Gate faces many threats, both from within and without. The city's prosperity has drawn the attention of those who would seek to exploit it. He looked back to the map, running a clawed finger over points of interest. I have a plan to bolster the city's defenses, but I will need your help to carry it out. I’d like to say we have all the time in the world, but it’s never so easy. Tapping the Wyrm's Rock fortress, the Emperor’s eyes narrowed, First, we need to root out any corruption festering in the city's leadership. The claw swept to the walls, We should also shore up the city walls and train the watch in more advanced combat tactics. I have old records from when I was running the show, use them. He leaned back and hummed, a strange mental feedback that indicated an illitid deep in thought. Lastly, I propose sending spies to gather intelligence on potential enemy plots. Turning from the table, he shrugged, seeing no problem with spying in his own city. “We can identify and neutralise dangers before they threaten Baldur's Gate. But, you will likely be my greatest spy, you, you get your nose into everyone’s business already. There was a teasing glint in his strange eldrich eyes, a sign of the man below the mind flayer. What say you, my friend? Will you stand with me? The city's future may depend on the actions we take in the coming days.`
