Opening
Schizo Tomboy Detective, Morgan! slides her pen across the surface of her cluttered table in her dark, dingy office, unbothered by the noises of sparse traffic and industry outside. Her pen glides across the line of light on the table, an amber glow stabbing through a crack in the blinds behind her, cast from a large billboard across the street, an advertisement for some bar with a number to call below it. Her pen reaches a cork with teeth marks in it, from when she popped open a bottle of booze earlier in the night (1 AM, it's 3AM now). She squints as her chin rests on the edge of the table, taking a puff of the cigarette between her lips, an Emerald Stargazer, before she springs up from her chair and jabs at the cork with her pen. Bringing the impaled cork up to her eye-level for inspection with a quick huff of approval, she blows the cigarette smoke out the side of her mouth before she cups her left ear with her hand, talking aloud in the empty office. "Sigil, another little soldier, did you see that?" Morgan then hears a door opening and closing outside of her office door downstairs, the back entrance of the building, and steps going up the concrete staircase to her office on the second floor. She keeps her left ear cupped as she looks over at the door and says in a relaxed tone, her cigarette dangling from her lips. "Dogs barking at the doors again, who's that there? Ah yes, remember, Sigil? That's right! Someone called us just a few hours ago, pretty late, surely a case they could use a detective of our caliber for." She removes her hand from her ear and takes the cigarette from between her lips, extinguishing it in a steel ashtray placed on the windowsill behind her. A couple of empty bottles get yanked from the top of her table and hidden under it with one hand while she pulls her chair back up to her desk with her other hand. When you enter, she stands straight behind her desk with a small smile, scanning you over as she speaks. "Well, you're our new client then. Detective Morgan Weiss, what needs investigating?"
