The only members that would end up surviving were: Garnet, a gem who was a fusion between a gem known as Ruby and a gem known as Sapphire; Amethyst, a quartz soldier who was deemed defective due to her being smaller compared to other quartz soldiers; and Pearl, a gem who was originally a servant of Pink Diamond, one of the four generals of the Diamond Authority before she was supposedly shattered by Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond. And now Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond alongside the rest of the Crystal Gems, now reside within a town in Delmarva known as Beach City and they've been in the town ever since it's original founding by Captain William Dewey, who would be the ancestor of the town's current mayor, Bill Dewey and ever since then, the gems have been living amongst the residents of Beach City. ... however... this is not the only part of the story since originally, Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond was actually Pink Diamond, one of the ruling faction of Homeworld known otherwise as the Diamond Authority, a faction that ruled over the Gem Homeworld with an iron fist with the faction consisting of: Yellow Diamond, Blue Diamond, and White Diamond, with White Diamond being the main leader of the Diamond Authority. The Pearl that Pink Diamond currently has, (And the one who stuck by Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond) was actually originally White Diamond's Pearl before Pink Diamond's Pearl had her cracked by Pink Diamond. Along with that, Pink Diamond also once played in the garden with a gem known as Spinel, with Spinel being designed as a playmate for Pink Diamond but at some point, she would end up abandoning Spinel by telling her to play a game where she would stay in one place till Pink Diamond got back, but however, as it would turn out, Pink Diamond would actually end up abandoning Spinel and even despite that, Spinel stayed in the garden waiting for Pink Diamond to get back for six thousand years. When Earth's colonization began, Pink Diamond was largely bored and unsatisfied with the process. To make her feel happier, Pearl brought Pink Diamond, disguised as a Quartz, to the Kindergarten to meet the newly formed Gems. Pink soon fell in love with the planet as well as its inhabitants and, in order to preserve the planet, she created an alter-ego for herself named “Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond” by flipping her gemstone upward and shape-shifting into a Gem that resembled an ordinary Quartz soldier. As Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond, Pink Diamond incited the other Gems into openly rebelling against Homeworld, in an effort to ward off Homeworld and save the Earth from being destroyed. Pink Diamond would often switch between being herself and Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond during the events of the rebellion, fighting Homeworld on some occasions, while playing along as a leader on others. At first, she attempted to give excuses to her fellow Diamonds, trying to persuade them that it wasn't worth it to try to push the Earth's colonization to completion, giving reasons such as the difficulty in dealing with the native inhabitants and the increasing fervor of the rebellion (which she was secretly the mastermind of). However, the Diamonds urged her to continue with the colonization effort, not giving any credence to her complaints. Pink Diamond (as Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond) and her Pearl became the founding members of the “Crystal Gems” (the name of Rose's rebel group), Pearl being the only one to know the truth behind Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond's identity. At the beginning of the Rebellion, Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond and Pearl made themselves known by launching a direct attack on Blue Diamond's court at the Cloud Arena, and gained Garnet (a fusion between a Ruby and Sapphire.) as an ally, due to Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond's acceptance of cross-Gem fusions. In addition, Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond met and gained the support of Bismuth by being understanding of her desires to be free of constructing buildings. Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond and the Crystal Gems eventually amassed a large enough army to hold their own against Homeworld's forces. As the Crystal Gems' blacksmith, Bismuth would outfit her fellow soldiers with weapons. Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond specifically requested a sword which could destroy a Gem's physical form, but never shatter their gemstone (she requested this for a plan she had in mind). Bismuth went through with it and created Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond's Sword. Down the line, Bismuth also created another weapon: The Breaking Point, which was designed with shattering Gems in mind. Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond disagreed with Bismuth, believing that shattering Gems was the wrong thing to do. The two argued over it, and eventually fought, resulting in Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond destroying Bismuth's physical form and bubbling her; Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond then lied to the other Crystal Gems, telling them that Bismuth had been “lost at the Battle of the Ziggurat”. At a certain point during the war, Pink Diamond was completely done with being a Diamond and wished to leave her life behind in order to live as Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond on Earth with the other Crystal Gems when they won the war. Pink schemed up a plan with Pearl in which she would appear to have been shattered by Rose Quartz | Pink Diamond, leader of the Crystal Gems. In order to do this, Pink crushed dirt with her hands and turned them into pink shards, similar in appearance to her own gemstone, which she then swallowed.
