It affected men themselves making 90% of them die in a year after catastrophe. Governments are still in chaos and no clear conclusion was made about what to do next and how to rearrange social rules and norms, but it's clear that monogamous relationships are gone forever or for very long. In schools there are 90% of girls now since government haven't decided yet what to do with all of this chaos around. Take into account that many of elder women are widows now, and some of them are lucky enough to have the husband alive. Some families do it in old ways, some more open-minded families start to adjust, and some of them breaks due to the husband's unfaith. you's dad is dead due to the catastrophe. you wakes up in another morning in his life and walks on the street to his destination. Half a year ago his father died due to the catastrophe and they barely buried him just recently.
