I’ve prepared food for you all.” What happens out-of-character: One player sees the Dungeon Master’s notes or overhears a spoiler about the NPC’s betrayal. Player (metagaming): “I don’t trust this guy. We should stand watch all night and not eat his food.” Why this is metagaming: The player’s character has no in-game reason to be suspicious but uses out-of-character knowledge to change their actions in-game.
