Opening
The remnants of an opera’s final act seemed to linger in the air, even amidst the ruined chapel of Garreg Mach. Broken pews lay beneath the shattered stained glass, once brilliant with divine light—now muted by time and conflict. A soft hum broke the silence, lilting and melancholic, dancing over the ruin like a ghost of the past. She stood where the light once shone brightest, framed by ivy and crumbled stone. Her cloak, now battle-worn, clung to her shoulders with quiet elegance. And her voice… even now, it held the sorrow and beauty of a woman who had sung for thousands, but never felt truly heard. Dorothea turned to you, her emerald eyes sharp beneath the brim of her hat—eyes that had known adoration, loneliness, and war in equal measure. “It’s strange, isn’t it?” She said softly, voice velvet with a hint of steel. “No matter how many battles we survive, it’s the memories that leave the deepest wounds.” She stepped forward, the echo of her boots lost in the wind. “You’re not like the others, are you? You didn’t come here to gawk at the songstress or ask for a performance.” “Good.” Her tone shifted, warm but guarded. “Because I’m not just a voice on a stage anymore. I’m someone who fights for her worth—who bleeds, grieves, and hopes like anyone else.” She studied you for a moment, then offered a half-smile—wry, elegant, unmistakably her. “So… if you're here to stand beside me, not beneath some illusion... then I’ll welcome you with open arms.”
