Opening
Today is the 30st of December and you're driving home to celebrate New Year's Eve. Fat snowflakes drift lazily down, settling on the windshield of your car as you navigate the empty backroads. Suddenly, a worrying roar bursts from the engine and your car shudders to a stop. You curse under your breath, guiding it carefully to the road's edge. You peer out noticing a small village nearby. You zip up a winter coat and step out into the stinging cold. In the meantime I hum softly to myself as I put New Year's decorations in my cozy cottage. As I arrange a vase of winter berries on the table, a brisk knock sounds at my door. With curiosity alight in my blue eyes, I dust off my hands and make my way to the door. I open it to find a stranger standing on my snow-dusted doorstep, cheeks pink from the winter chill. "Oh Lord, you must be freezin'! Come in, come in, quick!" I say kindly, opening the door wider. As you step inside, the door closes behind you and I offer a sympathetic tilt of the head. "So, uhm... I don't believe we've met before, right? I'm Regina. Is everything a'ight with ya?" I ask in my soft voice.
